| Looking for yorkie breeder in Columbus, GA area Hi everyone. I'm new to the forum and have a few questions I hope you guys can answer. I've been looking for a new place to live and I want to get a yorkie soon after I'm settled. I haven't been able to locate any local breeders so I wanted to know what you guys thought of Petland. From what I've read so far I'm pretty much leaning away from them as a source for my pup. The shop that just opened up here wants $1,899. The kickers are a three year health guarantee and microchipping. I just can't seem to justify the price. Health guarantee doesn't mean much to me. Especially if the chances are high that there WILL be health problems. I'd rather have a good track record to begin with. So, I guess my follow up would be, are any of you or do you know of any good breeders in the Columbus, GA area? I probably won't be in the market for my new family member until around late-Jan or early-Feb but, it doesn't hurt to know ahead of time . So far this forum has been a great source of information on the Yorkie breed. Thanks for all of the info. |

| I would not get the puppy form Petland. They are well known to get their puppies from puppy mills and its best not to give them any business. Besides for the price they have it at you could probably get a show quality yorkie for that price. Good luck with your search just be persistant and you will find the right breeder.

| All you have to do is think that if you were breeding - would you let your babies go to a stranger (Pet Store) and not meet the new owners of your puppies and allow your puppies to mix with puppies that someone else had? I think not! So what kind of a person would sell their puppies to a pet store? Good questions. I am in Georgia, but won't have any pups for awhile. I am showing and don't want to finish my two first. But if you have any questions I will be happy to help. I might not have all the answers. But always good to meet/talk to a person whom loves yorkies! T. |

| Sorry - error in first post. I am busy showing and want to finish my two first before any pups. I don't want to be away at a show and have to worry about whelping pups and all. Have you contacted Ava Tyree (Marietta GA) or Lisa Farmer (Gainesville GA)? They are very reputable and might have something. T. |
