I don't get it. I never said YTCA was bad. I simply agree there are 2 sides to everything. Telling someone to research is logical. That means YTCA or not. What's wrong with that?

Non of us said the dYTCA was bad or have bashed it in any way. One person related her personal experience with a few YTCA members. She said she did not know if the person was really a bad breeder or if these oter people had something against her personally.

No bashing, just telling it fhow it was.

Most of us on here have gotten our beautiful healthy dogs from NON YTCA members.

These members (of both YTCA and regional clubs) will also recommend breeders that are reputable and do breed to standard whether they are YTCA or not as well as try to steer someone away from purchasing their new family member from unethical breeders and lord knows, there are so many of those out there ready to pounce.

Yes, that makes sense, since YTCA members or most of them don't and would NEVER breed off color dogs and the few that do...well, word does get around..

You didn't open a pandora's box. YTCA has a standard about what is/is not acceptable in breeding Yorkies. There are many breeders who choose to breed "off standard" (either outside of the recommended weights, shapes or colors). The YTCA has taken a strong stance against what they are doing. Some of these breeders have taken exception to being excluded from the YTCA and take jabs every chance they get.

Are there some bad breeders with the YTCA? Yep, just like in every group there is always a few bad apples. Are all non-YTCA breeders bad? Of course not, I'd go so far as to say that many are very, very good.

Whether you ultimately choose to go with a YTCA breeder or not, starting there will help you gain some invaluable information on what to look for in ANY breeder regarding health testing, how long a great breeder keeps their pups, health guarantees, etc.

To the OP, first let me say, there is no mini Yorkie. Yorkies are a toy breed and anyone trying to sell you a mini or a tiny or a teacup..whatever is only trying to rip you off. There are many very good reputable breeders here in Texas and I feel you have been given some good advice on how to start your search. Good luck.

That's correct, no one has to just pick a name off a list and that was the point of my post - that there is more to buying a puppy than choosing a name from a YTCA list.

I'm not talking about just breeders, I am referring to everyone on here, pet owners, breeders, parti lovers non parti lover. Everone. The majority have come from hobby breeders, some from puppy mills or pet stores.

The point being: just because you are not a member of the YTCA does not make one a bad breeder, and just because one is a member of the YTCA, does not make them a good breeder.

The message is still, do your homework and find a breeder that you are happy with, whether or not they belong to the YTCA.

That is not bad advice.
