| I don't know of any breeders in your area to recommend, but just wanted to welcome you and offer you some friendly advice. Please be cautious of anyone who contacts you offering pups for sale, especially via Private Message. It's not uncommon for people here to operate 'behind the scenes' offering pups for sale, often because they have questionable breeding practices that concern others that they'd rather not be brought to light. Just remember, being a member of YT does NOT make someone a good breeder. Do your research FIRST and be aware of what red flags to avoid with breeders. Good luck! The perfect fur kid is out there for you somewhere. |

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | I also wish you good luck in your search. There are several stickies here about New Yorkie Parents, and finding a good breeder check out the YT library. There is a very old "axiom" that goes something like this; the smaller the child, the bigger the dog should be. As a single Mom with three kids, for sure your time has to be pretty well spent already, a puppy of any breed takes an incredible amount of time to house break, train, and just generally care for day by day. You might want to consider doing some volunteer work at your local shelter with your kids. They are almost always looking for folks to walk, play, and pet their shelter dogs. It is a wonderful way to give your children interaction with dogs, and to train your kids how to be around dogs of all sizes and temperament. Yorkies as you know are a very small breed of dog. At an adult weight the standard calls for 7 pounds. So it is quite important that your children do know how to interact with this tiny being. Yorkies do come with a fair number of health concerns, and as well can be hard to housetrain. Please familiarize yourself with these concerns. At the minimum you would want a breeder who breeds with knowledge, and the appropriate testing to insure their breeding stock is free of these concerns. You will find articles on this as well. Briefly LP luxating patella, if severe enough can require surgery to correct. Liver Shunt - LS, again if severe will require surgery, and will require a modified diet and lifestyle. Teeth, often times baby teeth are retained, and will require those retained teeth to be pulled which is most often done under anaesthesia. Yorkies are prone to periodontal disease so good daily teeth care is required.

| Like everyone has said do your homework on breeders, but DNG are good breeders, I don't have one of theirs but have heard great things and they stand behind what they sell. Good Luck!
