hello i was looking for a yorkie, and was wondering if anybody has any for sale in central california..for a resonable price... single mom on 3...so hopefully can find something resonable... thanks

look in the yorkies for sale on this forum. Someone might have one or be able to tell you where to look.

Check the YTCA.org breeder referral pages; There are a few YTCA breeders in Central California. You can also contact the Breeder Referral person listed there and she can direct you to those that may have puppies.

Single mom with three, please consider the cost of not only getting a Yorkie but owning a Yorkie. The vetting, grooming etc. Also, beware of people posting and willing to just sell you a reasonable puppy. Not all are on the up and up. Read, and google puppymills and know where your pup is coming from. Don't buy online, go to see your dog, the mom and the dad. Even if you have to wait, be patient and the right one will come to you. Have you considered rescue? They have so many beautiful pure breed dogs as well as what they call "Designer dogs." No such thing as a designer dog. It's just a name that greedy breeders made up to make more money. You'll find quite a few displaced dogs and puppies on Pet adoption: Want a dog or cat? Adopt a pet on Petfinder. It's a win win situation. You adopt and your dog comes spay or neutered and vetted. Most adoptions cost between $300 and $400 but it includes ALL the initial vetting, the spay and the neuter. First, if you're a single mother of three children, please, please, please consider the cost of owning a dog (especially a yorkie, as they can have significant health issues and costs associated with grooming) and whether a Yorkie is suitable for your situation. Yorkies (and little dogs in general) are not always the best around young children. Also, small dogs can easily get hurt when little kids play too roughly with them or drop them. Just something that you need to seriously consider.

If you have the funds and time to have a dog, and if a Yorkie is suitable for your household (i.e., because you have older children), then PLEASE look into a rescue organization in your area. Petfinder.com is always good and most regions have Yorkie resuce groups. If this is your first dog or if you're limited with regard to time, consider adopting a slightly older dog (i.e., not a puppy, which are about as time consuming as infants).

If you do decide that yorkies are for you, pls look for a breeder that does not mix breeds purposefully; one that does not breed females under 5 pounds, one that sells only AKC and not APRI/CKC/ACA. Many breeders use multiple registries so they cna still provide "papers" when the AKC has them suspended. The other registries will register puppies even if a breeder is banned or suspended from the AKC. AKC is the only not-for-profit registry. The others will bend over backwards to register puppies without previous registration of the parents just so they can make a buck. They were actually started by breeders banned from AKC or unwilling to comply with record keeping and safe breeding practices required by the AKC.

Also -- REALLY look at the dams and sires being bred. Do they meet AKC standard or are they scraggly-looking, cowering, unkempt, off-color? Take a good look at the health guarantee. Is it full of things they do not cover? Does it cover them for a full year? Does it require you to exchange your pet to use the guarantee or do they agree to pay for vet fees? Breeders know that most people bond with their dog and are not going to trade it in for a new one after a couple of days. So, if they require that intheir guarantee, they are basically off the hook for everything! There is a great post about things to look into before buying a dog. It is posted as a "sticky" at the beginning of the Yorkies For Sale Forum. Take time to read through that. Good luck!

Good luck in your search, just do your homework and get to know the breeder first :) There are many wonderful breeders here on YT, and you can check here and in the nursery. I only know of one breeder in CA, not sure where she is located but she is a really nice person and her website is dngyorkies.

this one didn't look too badly, but defin. go look at them in real life not just on the website...and they do breeder and predict 3lb weight which is pretty small for a yorkie...i dunno i'm skeptical:confused:

I second DNGyorkies. A very nice caring person. Has helped me more than once and I don't even have one if hers.
