| Looking for a Yorkie or Morkie Hello everyone, After doing some research I am thinking that I'd like ot get a Yorkie or even a Morkie for our family. We had a pug for 16 years (passed away 2 years ago) and I'd like to have a small dog, that does not shed much. I might have the opportunity to get this cute little girl...but I'm not sure what mix she is..I was thinking she was a morkie, but could be completely wrong anyone have any thoughts? Thanks http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/a...misc/cutie.jpg |

| The dog looks big to me. I'm not sure about a chihuahua but maybe a larger breed dog? Either way, that dog is very cute.

| I agree about the terrier mix part. I had a dog once that looked similar. He was terrier mix also. If you do get this little one you could always get a DNA testing kit online for about 60.00 and send it off. They will tell you what he is.

| That dog is adorable. I think it couple could be a maltese/jack russell mix. Is it a rescue?

| Looking for a Yorkie or Morkie You are always best in my opinion to go with a purebred registered dog. You are sure then of the pedigree, and you get what you pay for. There is a breeder in Hamilton that I bought my Jack from and I would really recommend her. It is faeriepups@gmail.com and the website is Faeriepups Reg'd Yorkshire Terriers, Hamilton, On. We love our little Jack, can't remember what is was like before we got him. Good luck! |

| In my (non-expert) opinion... I would say that the pup isn't a maltese/yorkie mix (Morkie) and agree that it probably has some terrier. I've looked at an awful lot of Morkie pics and haven't seen one like that. Then again, mixes can be wide-ranging so... I could be wrong. ^_^ While, I wish this was true. Unfortunately, it isn't The pet store I was looking at was selling a Morkie for $1200 and a purebred Maltese for $1600. I wouldn't say, in that case, you are getting what you pay for, as those pups were supplied to the pet store by a known puppy mill. Price really isn't a deciding factor when finding a good breeder/pup, at least for me. Especially considering that rescue pets can be *great* pups and they don't cost much. I'm sure your pup is lovely though and worth every penny you spent (probably more because that is just how special they are)! <3 |

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | She is a really cute dog, regardless of her breed. And if you have small children, a Yorkie or Yorkie/Maltese mix might not be the best fit for you because they are easily injured. Getting a purebred is not a guarantee of good health - and mutts can be just as healthy as purebreds. When I was looking for a pup I found someone who would ship me one for a very low price for a Yorkie. I did some research and found out that it was a puppy mill and that shipping can be pretty stressful for a dog. Not to mention the horror stories about pets escaping from the airlines. If you still want a Yorkie, I'd recommend that you visit the AKC website to find the breeders in Southern Cal and then search on their names here to see what other members have said about them. BTW - a Yorkie pup from a responsible breeder in this part of the country will not be inexpensive. But then keeping your pet in good health by feeding quality food, spaying/neutering, grooming, and regular vet care is not going to be cheap, either. Best wishes, whatever you decide. |
