I would say that the pup isn't a maltese/yorkie mix (Morkie) and agree that it probably has some terrier.
I've looked at an awful lot of Morkie pics and haven't seen one like that. Then again, mixes can be wide-ranging so... I could be wrong. ^_^

The pet store I was looking at was selling a Morkie for $1200 and a purebred Maltese for $1600. I wouldn't say, in that case, you are getting what you pay for, as those pups were supplied to the pet store by a known puppy mill. Price really isn't a deciding factor when finding a good breeder/pup, at least for me.
Especially considering that rescue pets can be *great* pups and they don't cost much.
I'm sure your pup is lovely though and worth every penny you spent (probably more because that is just how special they are)! <3
