Current Weight of Yorkie: Approx. 6 pounds

Additional Information:
Harley has been a part of our family since he was 8 weeks old. Harley is a great family dog and has been very gentle with our 2 1/2 year old son. Harley is not neutered...we had intentions of breeding him but never followed through with that. The reason I am looking for a new home for Harley is because, as I have read is very common with these small dogs, is that he is not completely housetrained and continues to mark his spot on my carpet! When we got Harley, we did not know that we were expecting our first baby - we found out 1 month later. Truthfully, we have not spent the time with Harley that he deserves. He is not fully "leash trained" because we could hardly walk 10 steps without him barking at the neighbors and wanting to jerk the opposite way in which we were walking.

I am not set on the $700 price...I would be willing to take less but would like to see Harley go to a good, pet-loving home that has the time to spend training him. Please contact me for more information.

Please get him fixed before you give him to someone. You dont want him ending up with the wrong person who may want to breed him.

Good luck finding him a great home

Here a link for housebreaking it really may make a difference

Hi welcome to Yorkie talk. If you really dont want to place him in a new home you can take the time right now to change the behavior. I have 3 Yorkies and they are all trained to go outside. It took work but it paid off. You have to start by taking them outside I have a bell that I hang on the sliding glass door. They ring when they want to out. I crate my girls Lila and Mandy not my male Jack when I am not home. .

There are really 3 ways to really housebreak the Yorkie first if you get him fixed and remember that every time they eat drink play sleep etc...... Take them outside immediately. Praise them when they go potty get really excited like they just did the greatest thing in the world... You have to remove the scent by using a neutralizer on the spot where he goes if you dont he will continue to go. I honestly believe if you really set your mind to it commit to doing this for a few weeks maybe one month I really believe he will improve. Last thing is to remember its the people that need the training as well.If the dog goes pee or poop in the house it really means that the person either was not paying attention to the signals and we do get lazy believe me I know I can go for about 4 to 5 months with no accidents then all of a sudden boom!!!! One of them has an accident but really it was me that did not pay attention or they are not feeling well and they may have diarhrea can never spell that lol. If you are really set on finding him a new home then I guess thats a decision you have made and I am not trying to make you feel bad but I see so many dogs that owners give up on because they dont want to put the effort in. All relationships are work children friends husbands etc... and if its not nurtured then it falls apart. "You get what you give bottom line. Animals can add such a joy special and are so unique creatures if you can remember that they do need time and effort but the payoff is so huge. I hope I wa not too harsh because I do not want to scare you away from this site. I appreciate your honesty. I wish you the best.

I'm sorry you're having to give up your little furbaby. If you really want to keep him, there are some things you can do to improve his behavior. First would be to neuter him. Marking is not the same as being potty trained. A dog can be 99% potty trained yet have the urge to mark. Neutering really helps but it's not the cure. If neutering isn't an option for you at this moment (for financial reasons) their is an inexpensive way to buy back your sanity, BELLY BANDS! It catches all his attempts to mark and it gives you piece of mind. If you want to correct the pulling a walk nice harness with a little determination can help. It turns the pup around so he faces you instead of going where he wants to go. It teaches him that pulling gets him nowhere. Just throwing ideas out there in case you really don't want to part with your pup.

He really is just gorgeous and I would take him without a second thought if I wasn't in the midst of moving again. (hopefully in the next 6 months) Good luck finding him a home or re-training!!!

Hi. Welcome to Yorkietalk. First, let me say that neutering him will help stop the bad habits he's developed, such as the lifting of his leg. Secondly, there are products out there that will also help. Belly bands, which people use when they have a male that marks. I know it's frustrating. I have a male that I rescued last year. He and he was neutered at six months old yet still does mark occassionally. Putting him up for adoption for me is not an option, so I've bought panties or as I prefer to call them since he's a male, underwear. It has helped tremendously. No more poop or pee in the house. If you have your heart set on finding him a new home, I would suggest neutering him first. And, you may not like this part but $700 for a rehome with issues is not going to happen. I know you said you are not set on price. If you truly want to find him a good and permanent home, may I suggest a Yorkie Rescue. We have many reputable ones that can be suggested on here. A rescue will work with him to correct his issues and will also, check out his new home and also take him back if it does not work out. Also, males (for these reasons) are harder to place. A rescue will also vet him and neuter him prior to placing him. He would not be in a kennel but rather an experienced Yorkie home where he'll be worked with and then placed in a permanant home. It really will ensure that he has a place where he'll spend the rest of his days rather then passed around and around. I've been in rescue many years and I also have five rescues, please believe me when I say that NO ONE will buy him with the issue he has and if they do, most will end up either dumping him at a shelter or trying to resell him again. I do commend you for being honest and I hope you'll consider what I've said. If i can help you in anyway with finding a rescue please feel free to PM me.

Elaine (mom to five rescues and one little xmas midget)
