Thanks! He is a cutie, but not to standard and so not worthy IMHO to breed with. So he is our pet and loves it. He was a great baby for our kids when they were in high school. His coat is a nighmare! As you can see in the photos I tried to save some of his coat, but with it matting in different areas - they had to get cut out. I even tried oiling it and that did not work well. So best it is trimed to a puppy coat. I would rather have a great silky coat any day!!

Any way you put it he's a beauty! Yorkies are such babies and love being spoiled! I'm sure he's loving his life wheather he's a breeder or just lounging about. Give him hugs and kisses for me!!

Oh, I totally agree....he is a real beauty!! I am so in love with the darker colors too!! They are all so very precious in their own way, I think it's like everything in life....that goodness for choice and variety!! ALL are precious little darlings!!

I loveeee the darker colors. Sophie was dark, and she had these 2 blonde highlights on her head..it was the cutest thing. Teddy and London are both silvery and tan/blonde

Also wanted to mention this:
Don't go by the registration papers on color or the pedigrees of listed colors, since most of the time people (novice) will mark color as black and tan due to color of the pups. As you know they change color as they grow.

Remy is 16 months and still predominantly black and tan, he has been dark since he was a pup, you can see his pix in my profile. His head is now very blonde, it changed in the last 6 months. Definitely a silky coat, no matting, requires minimal brushing and now that he is on raw it has a terrific shine

His body is beginning to show signs it may break, he has some silver / gray / blue that is sloooowly starting to show. I think he may be a late bloomer ;) Have to admit, he was not from a quality breeder. He is a great pet but I have no expectation of him matching the standard, we'll see what he looks like in another year or so!

I am pretty sure Bentley will stay the black and tan. He is such a cutie and I love his colors though. I get so many compliments on how adorable he is....standard or not. :D

Both of mine are still black and tan... one is 2.5 years old and one is 9 months old... I am pretty sure they will both stay dark... the ones from their litters that broke to the silver coat did so pretty early on.

Very unique! Haven't ever seen Yorkies this color. Live a sheltered life, I guess.:p

i think my emily is black and tan.she is 14 months.:)and her coat isn't matt.

I am pretty sure that your girl if given more time, will break blue. That is good, since you want her to break later and hold her color better, especially since she is a girl.

i have always wanted a black an tan yorkie to. there are some beautfuil dogs on here. but they are hard to find. around here any way.

I had Scruffs on and off for a few months, but when he was 12 months he was pure black. Then I had him for a few months, got him a haircut, and wallah! He was silver. His old mom didn't even recognize him. He was bright bright silver, then he turned black again. Now he is silver with a few pure black spots. What a weirdo! I think she is going to change too. At about 18 months he was all black again, and now at two years he is both. I wonder when he'll stop changing!

Here is my girl when she was younger. She is blue now. The last photo is of my Knight. Many pups may look like they will stay black and tan and then they get older and they break. That is why yorkie breeders cannot guarantee that any yorkie, especially a pup, will stay black until it is around 3 years.

I have seen yorkies get haircuts and they do go back and forth as their coat grows, or if they rub off a patch of hair it grows back black. I have seen a patch grow back bronze too, where the blue should be on a few yorkies.

Do you have any pictures of in between the time her head was black then turned. What color did it go to after the black. I have a boy that has the same color. He is now over a 1year old and turning a grey color. The breeder told me that her line didn't break color until after 2 years and she felt he would turn. I have been told by others he would not turn that late. I will try to get a picture of his head today to show you.

Here is how she grew and changed over the years. 1st photo as a pup - 4-5 months. Next one just over a year and last photos are fome this month now just turned 3.

Here is one more of her taken this month and you can see her blue color - Nice and deep, but not black. Also close up of her face - see nice rich gold.

I also thought my dog would remain very dark , she stayed dark very black , I shaved off her puppy coat she was still black and then turned a dark silver, now that her hair is growing its turning more silver...

Hi I just noticed your post for black and tan yorkie's. Its funny years ago when I first started breeding yorkie's I dealt with the Heiddy Webster line which is mainly black and tan. But, most people were looking for the tri or silver colors so i started bringing in more of that in the Tiffany lines. Now when I breed my black and tan females they sell immediately out. Too funny! My girlfriend has one of my black and tan females Miss Molly and she is due next month. I have a boy from her last litter who is totally adorable with a nice silk coat. We live in Maryland if interested I could let her no.

Isn't black and tan different from black and gold?
I see most pictures posted are not actually tan but gold.
There is a difference I believe.
