![]() My husband was so scared we were going to lose her so for my BD in August he got me Cosmo!! Same thing..he was the last of his litter and was going to be on the large side..hey that's exactly what I wanted large..which is funny because to us Yorkie/Biewer lovers 7-12 is large for us but really they are not they are still little doggies. No one wanted him because he was going to reach the standard plus he was super shy and scared of strangers.I told our breeder (Karen/KPSTOYBOX) that all those people who passed up on this cool dog would be sorry. Yup I was right - with doggie training and patience Cosmo is awesome..still a little leary of strangers but on our walks we carry his favorite treats and ask people if they are ok with trying to talk and pet him and give him treats..it's working. But I get where the breeders are stuck between a rock and a hard place..the buying public wants these tiny things.

| Aww, Izzy princess, I am so glad things turned out okay for Izzy. I have also had some of my pups stay smaller than I thought. Sometimes these babies just surprise us. I still have this little guy and he sounds just like your Cosmo. He is now 20 wks and can be leary of strangers as well. I wonder if it is because he is only use to us.. He plays very well with my kids. I take him out but now will also let people give him treats and see if that helps him. He is still such a cuddle bug and is doing very well on his potty training. I am going to repost his ad and reduce his price by half. If anyone is interested I do have pics of him on here under my albums. We are getting really attached to this little boy but would love for him to find his forever home. |

| I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I always recommend that people go to the best breeders they can find even when they want a dog that is not in "standard". Just because a great breeder only breeds standard dogs, it doesn't mean that every dog she produces will be show quality, but it does mean that the dogs she breeds will have enough qualities, that make it an exceptional pet. Even great breeders produce larger dogs occasionally, and since a dog under 5 pounds and over 8 pounds generally won't be breed by a reputable breeder, you will often find exceptional show quality tinies and large sizes through them, because the won't be using them to breed. By going to a great breeder you can also get a dog with many desirable traits, such as a great coat or proper structure, and a great breeder is much more likely to do health testing. I would first find a breeder whose breeding program I could fully endorse, and tell them what I was looking for. You might have to wait for a while, but the best things in life are worth waiting for!
