| Try thinking of it like this... First of all, like I said before, I don't expect everyone to agree or understand, but think of it like this.....if you have children, in most cases they don't live with you forever, they go out on their own and have families of their own. You still love them and you want what is best for them. I love Emma and this will be the best thing for her and for Delrita. I ask that everyone please respect my decision even if you don't agree with it. Thank you, now I am asking that admin go ahead and close this thread. I may open a new one for a brief time after she is in her new home.

| Although... I do find it a bit odd how some of the breeders who are rehoming their dogs for a nice sum of money don't have a negative thought posted on their threads and other threads who don't have them. Just curiosity roaming around in my head.

i agree. it always amazes me when people who are not breeders take the attitude that we should keep them all. I do agree that it is hard to let them go but sometimes you have to for the dogs sake. They deserve to live out the rest of their lives like little princesses or Kings and Yes, Jill Brooks is an outstanding breeder. | |

| jill, don't even worry about that. You are a fabulous breeder. I know how hard it is on you to place your girl. I recently placed two of mine that had been retired for over a year. I finally was able to let go. Sorta. my two girls are living a lavish, happy life now and I only wish i had placed them sooner. I gave them away. Last edited by Sugar's Mom; 03-02-2009 at 11:29 AM. |

| Thank you Dee!! When I heard Delrita's story and what her friend Teri was willing to do for her, I gave her Emma too. I didn't charge her for her. It made my heart happier to give her to her. What a lot of people don't understand is that it's not about the money, it's about making people happy. Thank you for your kind words!! Jill

| Wow....I'm really surprised how some are bashing Jill. You obviously don't know her. She is one of the most kind hearted, awesome person I know. She loves her babies very much. I personally have seen her babies and the life they lead and how Jill spoils them. So unless you know what you are talking about, its best to say nothing. People who breed - retire dogs all the time. I've seen it on here. I've never seen anyone bashed like this. Jill we know you are a truely wonderful person that is why you have such a GREAT reputation!!!! You don't get that from being a terrible person! |

And so far as breeders retiring and placing their adults, a lot of times it is in the best interest of the dog. If a breeder continues to show and breed, they're going to continue adding new dogs to their breeding program. If they keep every spayed/neutered retired dog, they would eventually have so many dogs that they may not be able to care for them all properly. Dogs need individual attention, and if a breeder has too many dogs, they won't be able to provide that. So a lot of the time it's in the best interest of a dog to place him/her in a new home where they can be a PET and receive that individual attention. What usually upsets me is when people buy dogs as PETS only and then decide to breed them...and then get rid of them. If you buy a dog intending it to be a pet, you've made a lifetime commitment to that animal. But when someone has a breeding program (and is hopefully breeding for the right reasons), to continue a good breeding program they will most likely have to place some dogs at some point.
