Perhaps try to find a Brazilian website that sells Yorkies? It seems odd to me though, since the US has pretty strict laws on importing dogs from what I recall. Usually some kind of quarantine would be required. Just be careful and make sure they get a health check before you purchase!

| I'm sure you can find a reputable breeder and pay much less than $2,000. I am going to try to remember the name of the breeder where my friend got her puppy just outside NYC.

Be careful Be careful going through a broker also. You can not talk directly to the breeder and get info..if a problem crops up, you are more or less on your own. There is nothing wrong to want to import, I have done it many times..but the same quality exists right here in the USA...for the most part much better. Unless the broker is reputable and I realize that can be a contraditon in terms...anyway...they can buy pups from terrible situations and resell. Do you know in Brazil most pet Yorkies are far less then $500. The broker in many cases will 10 times the price to the buyer. I saw Brazilian breeders list Yorkies pup for $500 and that includes shipping on Puppyfind.com..good luck

Be very, very careful. I have read where few brokers are supposedly bringing in Yorkies and many have been ill, or not gotten the right pup or no pup at all. I would go straight to a breeder that lives there and get one that way.

I'm not too familiar with importing dogs but I do know that you don't have to pay $2,000 for a yorkie! If you're patient enough, you can find breeders in your local newspaper, the older ladies that do it just as a hobby and not a source of income. I bought my little boy for $400.00. I had to sit around for a good month and a half before finding such a great price and the breeder I am buying it from is an absolute doll. I really can't afford something past $700.00. But I'm sure if you wait around, the right price will come along. Were you looking for the toy yorkies? Is that why they're so expensive?!

I would not buy an imported dog from a broker. You would have no idea where it came from and no recourse. There are plenty of yorkies right here in the good old USA. So unless you're looking to show or breed and want one from a particular kennel, there is no reason to import.
