| I just realized I didn't post the difference lol...here's what I found on: http://yorkshireterriersofcalaryn.com/Biewers.aspx The Biewer is becomming widely recognized as a separate breed from the standard Yorkshire Terrier. Biewers are sometimes confused with tri-colored or Parti Yorkies. The difference is that the Biewer is bred to a strict standard, the colors have a set pattern and they are a recognized rare breed. Many tri or parti Yorkies have white colors combined with other colors that appear random while others appear very similar to Biewer markings. Currently Parti Yorkies do not have a written standard and are considered a color variation of the Yorkshire Terrier and they are not recognized by AKC, nor considered a rare breed at this time. Parti Yorkies usually have a cropped tail, while the Biewer standard specifies long tail held higher than the back. |

Hey Nicki~ Your info says that the parti colored Yorkie is NOT recongnized by AKC, but this is not the case. They are 100% Yorkshire Terrier and are AKC recognized and they are eligible to be registered just like other purebred Yorkies born from 2 AKC registered parents. Also,I won't get into the "rare debate" because there are people that get very worked up when those words are used, but I will post the defintion of the word rare and let others make up their mind. RARE - not widely known; especially valued for its uncommonness; uncommon - not common or ordinarily encountered; 2. rare - recurring only at long intervals; "a rare appearance"; infrequent - not frequent; not occurring regularly or at short intervals. The biewer's standard colors are supposed to be three colors; black (blue), white and tan (gold). Their heads should be all three. Their tummies, chest, legs and the tip of their tails should be white.

It just seems to me that those particular Partis look a lot different than Biewers. I always thought they looked very similar.

| You are correct the Parti's are AKC registered. And allthough some look similar ,the Parti's do not have a written standard. The Biewer has a standard set and has been showing in Europe, Canada and America for sometime now.IABCA and NAKC since 2003, (Donna Hall)* American Biewer Club*)paved the way for many Biewer Breeders today, and for this we are thankful. Most Biewer breeders/fanicers choose to stick with the standard that states 3colors must be present in the head. While others have chosen to follow a much more relaxed standard, allowing all head color variations. So even while looking at the Standard the Biewer Community is very devided on it. Best Wishes finding your little Parti baby. Jan

| Donating YT 2000 Club Member | The Biewers were recognized the weekend of Jan. 12-13, 2008 as a separate and rare Breed by the American Rare Breed Association (www.ARBA.org). It is one of the 3 clubs that are accepted and approved by AKC if the Biewers choose to go to AKC in the future. The BTCA (http://www.biewer-btca.com) was responsible for the recognition of the Biewers as a separate breed from the Yorkie. They are more-like first cousins in reality. Different from the parti-yorki that is AKC recognized, but not showable. Biewers can now be shown at ARBA shows as well as NAKC and IABCA. |
