| I wrote Kathy and told her we aren't home for Christmas, since we go visit relatives in CA. I asked her if she could bring the puppy after we got back home. She said that would be fine.. He would then be nearly 5 months. (18-19wks) I asked about her deposit policy. I could resurve this pup, and if/when I don't like him, I could move it to another pup So I guess if it's going to be this pup, I'll have to decide at 5 months. Do you miss the worry of liver shunt at 5months? Could you get a fairly good look at him then? Pat ~ regular conformation is my goal (long term). For the next two years though, I want to start with Jr Showmanship to learn all the more I can before regular conformation.. Alyssa Last edited by Wylie's Mom; 11-01-2010 at 07:05 AM. Shunt can show up at any time...the best thing to do is to have the puppy tested at 6 months of age....it's the best time for a good reading. Remember this test can only tell the puppy does not have shunt, it cannot tell you if the puppy is a carrier. Good Luck, may all work out for you.

Alyssa, you seem to have such a good head on your shoulders and I'm sure you will do well with your decision. Good Luck.

You aren't unusual.... I waited over a year and half for my first show dog. That was after I approached my breeder....that doesn't count the time I spent looking and studying beforehand. Patience, education are the best when you doing this the right way.

Sometimes I think some people think that I am "too intense." Well, I have been told that all my adult life...what is nice is when you find someone with the same passion as you have......now, see.......I found you! You may find your yorkie first......as, I am in a holding pattern waiting for babies....then, will have to wait to see what develops.... There are so many breeders here and at shows that are so willing to help, it sure makes this somewhat more bearable....but, boy o'boy am I overdue with the waiting thing.....and I am at shows most weekends taking notes and learning....even yet after 2 yrs.....hey, maybe I could write a book...ROFLMAO!!!! Intense isn't the word I would describe you....overly cautious comes to mind....Now, we are approaching year 3...I hope it will be yours....then, what you gonna do...you're gonna have to jump in with both feet. Then watch out world we'll be seeing Shirley in the ring.

Nothing like a friend to not beat around the bush....LOL....Yep, I am kinda like an old car....."once you get me started, you cannot get me stopped!" LOL She is out there somewhere.....hey, maybe I need to quit looking at Yorkshire Terrier Magazine....LOL......"i want that one, and that one or maybe that one......on and on.... Besides......I am not overly cautious, as much as I want the breeder to know I am committed.........ok, Mary, "not "have to be committed".....ha ha ha ha ha....no pun intended..... But, at least I now have someone similar, going thru the same thing..... | |
