I truly love all breeds of dogs, I have had a number of breeds myself in the past...but that is where the Yorkie is different..it is not 100% canine....their brain is 50% human..I have never found a breed that thinks so humanly as our Yorks...people think they are not very smart because they are so hard to housetrain..it has nothing to do with smarts.

Yorkies are self-willed, they live to please themselves..if it pleases them, they do it and to heck with what you think..just deal with it! I spent many years trying to get Yorkies to do things my way..it saves much frustration if you just let them have their way and work your life around their likes and dislikes..I rather like a dog who does as they please and the world be damned...that is pretty much the way I think and act myself..! and when they are too naughty, I can pick them up and hold them..I am bigger then they are!!

Wow, I didn't know that their brains are 50% human, that's really interesting and explains alot! Everyone is always telling me that they don't believe Jake is a dog....they say he is a little kid disguised as a dog.

I think that would be part of her problem, that most people confuse a silkie as a over sized yorkie. And say things like, oh my sister has a yorkie too but its smaller & has a shorter nose, its the cutest thing...and when they say this is a champion silkie & they look clueless-I guess it is frustrating. Still no reason to be rude to you because of that & the fact that she knows she looks pretty irresponsible losing her dogs repeatedly- these grand strong toothed dogs, he he he. I love most all breeds too, but the owner can give a breed a bad name .

As an owner of a Silky...I can't believe she would act like that towards you. I actually happen to love the breed as well, but there is a difference in the looks of a Silky and a Yorkie... and I was just reacting to the woman's "slam" on our beloved yorkies... the nerve of that woman. sounds like she is just a sour puss all the way around. i would definitely call silky rescue next time you see the CHAMPIONS running loose.

let me tell you what happened to me yesterday....

it was pouring down rain and my husband and i were outside watching and we saw three silkies running in the rain. i called them to my house. we kept them in the garage and i called animal control to see if anyone had reported them missing. which none had. after the rain, i placed them all on leashes and took them to the corner of my street hoping who ever lost them would be looking for them and see me. well she did. i come to find out over a year ago, i had rescued these dogs before. they are champion silkies. the owner wasn't too grateful. she started to tell me about her in the ring and she used to judge. i then told her i had Yorkshire Terriers.

well....she then started to tell me yorkies are frail, bad teeth. by the time they are 5 yrs old they have to eat mush. she said she would judge them and wonder why they would continue to breed such a poor dog. my husband was beside himself and walked away. by the way, my dogs are not champions but they were much better looking than her dogs any day of the week.

now do you find that other show breeders tend to get jealous, or just think their breed is the best and all others are worth nothing?

i haven't a clue why she was so ugly to me after i saved her three champions from possible being runned over by a car.

we are just so very upset.

I'm always telling ppl that own other breeds, "Why don't you get a real dog? A Yorkie." They know that I'm joking with them, but truly Yorkies are the only breed I want!
