| ![]() Debbie - very nice puppy and you look great! I also try to bring things that do not wringle. I do bring a small travel iron, just in case, but have always stayed in hotels until now. I have a camper and see how this goes. We will have, including myself, 5 people in the camper. A real family afair. My daughter will be helping me show. ![]() T. |

| ![]() Dear Debbie, Thanks for posting your picture with Danny. You look great! ![]() ![]() And yes, on your advise, I wrote the Yorkshier Terrier Club of Northern California. The president of the club, Carol Schwarzbach, emailed me back, and had asked that we talk on the phone about my interest in joining the club! When we do, I will ask her about classes that I can take to learn about showing. ![]()

| ![]() I dress for the ring like I dressed for the office - professional and classic. In my opinion, a good handler fades into the background and all the attention is on your dog. A good rule of thumb for jewelry and shoes is no noise. If the shoes make a flip flop or a click click sound, do not wear them. Same with jewelry, if it jangles don't wear it. I think color is very important. I have a show picture that reminds me never to wear dark colors when showing a yorkie. At first glance, you can't see my dog. He blends in with my dark jacket. Yorkies look best in a red bow so it would make sense that wearing red would best accent your dog. I like to choose something bright or something light. |

| ![]() I plan to wear white trousers, white shoes and red shirt..or first show is outside. Is it okay? What do you think? I think it's a good combination of colors that puts yorkie in a first plan! Quote:
![]() We have Terrier club and Croatian Kennel Club where we can get all the general informations about shows. Few of us friends organize outside meetings in nature with all sorts of dogs and that's how we train walking in the ring ![]() ![]()

White is ok when showing indoors on a carpet. You can wear black if your dog is not a dark steel blue. Chose your colors, but always try them on before a show, use your dog to determine what colors show them off to the best advantage. Keep in mind you are on your knees alot so, what you wear on top needs to be considered too....what is best to show off your dog's sillouete.

| ![]() Well, my yorkie is very dark...black & tan I'll try out the clothes few days before the show and ask a family member to take some photos of my yorkie and myself together so I could realy see how it looks like on my laptop...it's easier and more objective than to imagine

Wow! He is a doll!! He should finish in no time. I luv his head. Looks like he's gonna have a nice thick coat to take care of. Brody has the slow growing silk, it needs to thicken up, I think I will "tip" it just a little, may help it along. Bobbi suggested this to me so I guess I'll give it a try. Have you ever tried a hot oil type treatment to keep the ends from drying out? Hope I'm not ruining his coat. Its been so long for me taking care of a show coat!!! Good luck with Danny. Hope we can meet some day at a dog show. We are trying to get a motorhome and do some long distance ones. That would be fun.

Your Brody is absolutely gorgeous.....very typey. Have you tried Plush Puppy Balsm it is absolutely wonderful in protecting the coat without drying it out. Also Emu Oil or Almond Oil are both great. Alternating leaving it off every other bath.

I know - too many. But plan to unload everybody when we get to the show. They are only allowed to sleep in it. LOL!! My daughter is now 25 so she will be a big help. I did not show when she was younger. Now that I look back I should have gone back to yorkies sooner. A red top is great against a yorkie. It has always made my yorkies look really good and shows off their toplines. Also think what color bow your dog will wear. I know it is crazy, but I just try not to clash with their bow color. Most of the time we use a red bow, but have used other colors during different growing stages to enhance their gold color. I jsut bought a bottle of Emu oil. Up till now have used Nutrgenia or Booth's bath oil. T. Last edited by topknot; 04-17-2007 at 02:20 PM.
