| pedigree may i ask at what point does the champions in a pedigree stops playing a role in the dog genetics and it becomes unimportant |

| some people on here, usually the show breeders, will tell you that it is false advertising if you advertise a pup as from championship lines unless it is Champion sired. That is a matter of opinion. I would say as far as gentics, from what i have learned, the genetics should be researched for the entire line. My husband sells beagles every week to people looking for something that goes all the way back to his first Field Champion. |

Most breeders know what is behind the dogs and the lines involved. For example if each parent contributes 50% of the gene pool and each grandparent's contributtion is 25%, the great-grandparents share only 12%. Dogs listed on the pedigree prior to that time cannont make any really significant contribution. The only exception to this is when you have a dog appear multiple times in the same pedigree.
