| Hopefully NOT the same person... As most of you know I am a HUGE fan of going to the AKC dog shows in the area... and I also follow a LOT of the Yorkie specialties held around the country. I guess I could be considered a "lurker" but I am thinking someday I may decide to try the ring.... someday.... (I used to show horses and KNOW how much work it takes and don't want to take that plunge..... and for now I am content with my 3 little furbutts and being "the dog show groupie") I love seeing dogs from this region and like to keep a mental note of the beautiful dogs and admirable breeders that have them. This week I read an article and I am hoping that it is not the same person/owner that I have been reading about in "INFODOG" please tell me that it isn't. What scares me is it lists the same town in KY. Man charged with felony animal cruelty in Mercer - centralkynews.com It is such a sad story.... I am hoping it isn't the same person.

| I think it is sad that it says it is a "class D" felony.... makes it sound like such a minor thing.... but how sad those horses look.

| He's obtained some beautiful dogs from some top breeders. So, sad....it appears background checks are going to have to be done before anyone sells a dog.

| I would be freakin out....... for a responsible breeder ... it would be a really difficult situation. Hope all works out for the dogs.

| I would suspect that most breeders have in the contract that if a dog is known to be in an unsafe environment or unhealthy conditions they can confiscate the dog.

| That would be great..... and also a reminder for breeders to remember to PUT this in their contract. They spend lots of time and research and money to make the best of their line and want to keep it in good hands.

| How sad is this?? My concern is how can a person who is supposed to love animals (or should at least if they are showing them).. how can that person neglect another animal?? Makes you wonder how the dogs are treated. I would like to believe that there is some kind of explanation... it is just so sad. I would hope that breeders who have placed dogs with him, will be checking into this right away.

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | I think what jumped out for me in the article was this line: "****, identified as head of Central Kentucky Equine Rescue, was charged with 30 counts of first-degree animal cruelty..." How does someone who is involved in rescue work justify those conditions?

| Can't. Did you read that about the bone sticking out on the one mare? Shocking and deeply disturbing. Surely authorities are looking into all the dogs' wellfare as well, don't you think, or do they have to have a separate complaint to be able to check on other pets. |

| This is so sad. Even though horse rescues have been overwhelmed the past few years in this economy, there is no excuse. Frankly, I don't know how anyone can operate a full-time horse rescue AND find time to show and breed dogs. The fund raising alone would be a full-time job. Horses are so expensive. We have a good horse rescue fairly close to were I live www.savethehorsesnow.org. The amount of fund raising they do is phenomenal, but to take good care of the horses, its what you have to do.

I'm not sure. But I would think that if the conditions of the dogs were in plain sight and similar, than they would be able to incorporate that in to their investigation, too.
