| What does this term mean? I've been reading a bunch of show breeder's websites and one keeps mentioning that her dog's a very 'typey' head. Explain? |

| The word type/tapey can be used in a few different ways I think...maybe I am wrong. I have been taught to use the word when referring to a consistant look a breeder produces...when a breeder has puppies who all have the same basic look, I call it typey... When you breed type to type...you are breeding a dog and bitch that look very similiar in appearance, but may not have any common dogs in the ped...that is why you can outcross and still get puppies that look like your own line...I like to breed type to type...as well as linebreeding. And I do think it refers to a more compact, smaller type Yorkie. |

| I looked it up after posting which I am famous for..LOL "Characterized by a strict adherance to breeding to type"... Example...5 pounders bred to 5 pounders of the same basic color, same facial features, same size ears, length of leg, neck, back, eye size etc...and hopefully, you will get the same puppy over and over...I used to get it from my Gator son...if I bred him to anything from my 3 gen line I got the exact puppy over and over...some may have been bigger/smaller or lighter/darker, but people would say ...that is a Primrose yorkie... |

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | Yes and in the broader sense, a typey dog, depicts generally overall the "yorkie" look. It is a a combination of many things, structure, color, coat, head, tail carriage, size, and attitude. This "typey" dog exhibits to no uncertain terms this is a Yorkie.
