The word type/tapey can be used in a few different ways I think...maybe I am wrong.
I have been taught to use the word when referring to a consistant look a breeder produces...when a breeder has puppies who all have the same basic look, I call it typey...
When you breed type to type...you are breeding a dog and bitch that look very similiar in appearance, but may not have any common dogs in the ped...that is why you can outcross and still get puppies that look like your own line...I like to breed type to type...as well as linebreeding.

And I do think it refers to a more compact, smaller type Yorkie.
