| I know, sorry, I should have added the rolling eyeballs to show my sarcasm. There are so many members here who are either members of the YTCA or that know A LOT about it that the question came off as ironic. Of course, at second glance, yorkiemini is a new poster so it makes sense. I'll let those better versed answer the poster's question.

| Well, all sarcasm aside, I am so enamored with my Cali and am having so much fun with her I want to learn all I can about Yorkies and become involved in the Yorkie community. I looked on line and it seemed to be somewhat "elitist" what with having to have two members in good standing vouch for you. I guess I would like to know more about it to see if it is something I would be interested in. My Cali was being shown in conformation when I got her and had some "points" already -- don't know much about conformation, but she is a real hot shot in the obedience, tracking, therapy certification, and hearing dog certification and she is loving her first few rally and agility classes. Can't believe I never knew anyone who could have told me about these remarkable little dogs! Certainly, I have much to learn -- we are just starting to get this top knot thing under control in a more consistent manner! LOL! Some day we do have bad hair days and it is my fault not hers! |

![]() I don't think YTCA is elitist in its requirements for membership at all. The guidelines are an attempt to maintain a certain level of respectability by vetting its membership to ensure that new members are endorsed by existing members. As the parent club for the AKC, there is a great responsibility to the breed. From what I understand, some might want to be able to claim membership for the purpose of gaining that respect, but then use it in nefarious ways. Hopefully, an ACTUAL YTCA member can explain better.
