I am definitely beginning to see how hard it is to breed the "perfect" Yorkie. The one pup with the great ear set (and absolutely the most beautiful face in the world - to me) doesn't have a topline to write home about, whereas the ones with the wrong ear sets had absolutely beautiful toplines, everything else. Throwbacks I guess. As mom/dad/grandparents all have beautiful ears/toplines, etc. *sigh*

Let me ask you something....why would you call something a throwback for ears when it has beautiful topline and everything else and sigh? I would NEVER call that a throwback. As, I'm the type that goes for the structure and movement and straight toplines over a wide ear set but that's just me

Let's just say our nickname for the one was "donkey" --- the throwback comment came from the suggestion it came from back in the line. Just sighing in a jesting manner over my realization that there is a heck of a lot that goes into breeding. Wasn't meant as some "disgusted" sigh, a sigh of realization.

see just remember sometimes they can grow into their ears and also remember once they get ear furnishings can help the look of the ear. So much to learn with these guys

I wanted to give an extra thank you for all for responding. So much for me to learn in this area. I wish I could show, but I haven't the resources or time at this point in time. I do want to at least start going to shows, but I haven't heard of any in my area but will be more diligent in trying to find some. I'm guessing the Seattle area would be the closest to me (despite being across the state).

I understand your inability to enter the show arena at this moment in time. Attending shows would be your next option, one of the draw backs in exhibiting is traveling. There is a saying you can't finish a dog in your backyard.

Keep on studying and continue your quest for knowledge in this wonderful breed, it'll happen for you.
