The problem that I see is that some think that breeding is their right. They will do what they want and fight and argue their agenda whatever that might be. I'd much rather see someone whelping multiple litters of puppies that are excellent representation of the breed and then placed into excellent home.

This has been asked about "pet breeders", but how about directed at those that show....just how many breeders do we need to "better the breed"? How many is too many? I know that some, within this thread, have said that 5-10 litters a year is fine depending on who the breeder is and on their facility and the money that they have to provide for care. I'd have someone who always buckled me into my car seat/crate, and took me all around, we get to meet lots of ppl when Mom's says let's go have fun and do some shopping too.

So yes Tammy I'd exchaange my life for that of one of my show dogs.

There are plenty of beautiful women in the world, that are sweet and have many talents. They don't all automatically go to talent shows because it just isn't their thing. Is this the same in the dog world?

It's not a dumb question :) I know the dog needs to have the attitude/personality to go with everything else. I wouldn't take a dog in the show ring if it didn't have the outgoing personality because to me that shows the dog isn't enjoying himself why would you want to make it show? Just as with children, why make them play basketball if they don't have the drive or the want to play?
I know a mentor of mine had a nice yorkie that did have points on him and there was an incident where she fell in the ring because she slipped on the concrete on a piece of chicken and it scared the dog so bad that he didn't like the ring anymore and she never finished him because why put him through the anguish? To me they have to have it all and that includes personality :)

I'd much rather see a well tended small home kennel producing 5 to 10 litters of puppies who is a member of a breeding club with governing rules to follow and answer to regarding their ethics and breeding vs the alternative. I have a home full of the alternative and see it here every day. :( Have you been reading and posting to any of the sick puppy threads since Christmas? It's heartbreaking to read and fathom how many horrible breeders there are cranking out puppies.
