Your right Gail It's actually at the at the jaw. I for one use a braided satin neck piece. Others use a soft padded neck piece. The pressure on these show dogs is minimal. It's a very light flick of the lead when correcting.

Same with a Good Show Jumper. Minimal Pressure, and let the horse go! I surprise myself sometimes with what I think I know!

You're absolutely correct, only apply pressure minimally when correction is needed.

When talking about the lead...would that be the "kindness" type? I have 2 of those types... one with straight satin and swivel then one that is a braided satin with a swivel but that one has beads on it ..kinda too flashy I think...

I've always had my leads custom made my hieghth and my dog. Started with the soft pad under the chin. However, I had a girl that completely balked at it, so we adjusted and adjusted, making it narrower, shorter, etc. We finally changed it to the braided satin that my custom lead maker worked and softened for her. I've never used anything else since.

I love the lead that she made for me Mary, it works great on him....a much better length than the other lead I was using. He responds well to the braided neck piece also, it reall helps in keeping his head up.

Thanks for putting me on to her ,I love her stuff. I also bought a topknot pillow and a satin pad for the ringside table top.

Kristena e-mailed me last night for Karen's contact info. She had planned to order leads from Karen but, got side tracked.

I usually have extra's with me and hand them out to newbies.....I was down to my last one (the plain ones, not the blingie ones), so I ordered more from her.

Karen's been making my leads for years. When I first started, my handler was 6'4", I had her make his leads for him too, since the ones that were sold off the shelf just didn't work out so well for him. Since he's no longer handling yorkies, I'm mailing them to Ken.

I am having Karen make my 3rd lead....I should have brought the one she made for me to Vegas so she could put more length on it! I'm tall and I have to have a long lead LOL...

I was so happy to meet Carl, Mary and 'Sunnie' during the Las Vegas Specialty! It is really nice to finally put a face to usernames. I will be watching the videos soon and be able to enjoy the show once again.
