So, I want to ask you what are expectations in this endeavor? What is it that you want to do? What are your goals in breeding and showing?

In my opinion, if you are seeking knowledge in this endeavor it is from my experience that one would be alittle more appreciative, a little more candid and not so accusative in your questions of other breeders practice. I find when you are alittle more humble breeders and or show exhibitors would be more forthcoming with answers to your questions. From your post about breeding oversized bitches to the top ranked yorkie we all know who you are referring too especially if you follow the rankings like I do. Anyone that knows me and Mary as being members of the YTCA I can't go against the code of conduct and say they are not doing it correctly when in fact I don't know that because I wasn't there to see it for myself personally so what it all boils down too is heresay....
I am always willing to help or lend a hand to newbies.

sorry i guess emails tones can easily take on the tone of how the person reading them interperts them.
I have European Lines myself. That seems to be a real thorn in your side. Seems the breeders here take it as disrespect when they find you are trying to get in the breed and you have bought from European Breeders, kinda like a buy american boycott type of attitude you find.
But I love the dogs and I have meet the breeders in person and went over my dogs before i got them. Not sight unseen.
I do plan to CH them and they will be health tested before i spend the money showing them. Then and only then will they be bred. but as far as finding a mentor here, that will depend on if someone is open to the fact that I have imported mine and i am not looking to buy their lines.

Thorn in my side? I didn't know you had European lines since I don't recall you saying that I know nothing about you. European lines have fantastic lines! My BFF has a nice Italian bitch she imported and she's fantastic!!

I don't understand why anyone would take offense of anyone buying from European lines........

Haven't Parkside, Rama as well as many other's incorporated European lines into their breeding programs?

I do know that laws in Europe are less stringent than in the U.S., as you are not allowed to sell on an limited registration. That could be the reason some may be a bit stand offish when you speak to them.

I wish you luck in your showing endeavours. We would love to see pictures of your babies sometimes. Are they still pups? Are you going to show them yourself? I have to tell you that these ladies on here are very knowledgeable and they do try to help all they can. We don't always agree on everything but it is good to read different opinions on tough subjects. I know I have learned a lot from listening to them. I really think no matter how long you show or breed there are things to learn.

I also believe Stratford Yorkies also have imported from France to incorporate in her lines several years ago.
I have found some GORGEOUS yorkies from Europe on the SweetyBlu website but unfortunately I can't get one because I won't allow them to ship it too me because I don't feel comfortable in shipping and I don't have the money to fly across the ocean to go get it at this time. Sure I can go get one I'm sure but finances won't allow the trip and the cost of the dog. That would be the only way I'd import is by putting my hands and eyes on the dog itself

After reading post after post, I can not sit idly by and listen to this any longer without commenting. Yes, I feel your post have definitely had a rude and offensive tone, along with uncalled for "ringside gossip". Mary and Donna are respected, reputable and ethical exhibitors. Both have been mentored by top long time exhibitor/breeders here and in Canada and have championed numerous Yorkies. You come on with what seems to be an accusing air, no one knowing who you are and after this, probably not caring! Where your dogs come from is of no concern to anyone as long as they are healthy and excellent representatives of the breed. If you are new to the show ring, I would highly suggest you sit back and take a breather...This is not the way to gain favor or make friends in the show world. One should be grateful there are exhibitors like these ladies that are willing to befriend and help.

Sorry, I missed you..so little time..

As to size..I haven't been to Eastern shows in 5 yrs..at Memphis I saw several of my friends who used to breed a larger Yorkie enter a much smaller type...
Tiffany used to bring out a good size Yorkie and she told me they have much smaller now..and a few others...just an observation.

I think it's a trend thing.......Lee has told me on several occassions that she'd get ready to bring out a smaller yorkie, because everyone was showing smaller. Then they'd start bringing out larger ones....She said she couldn't win for loosing.

Please correct me if I am wrong..but as I recall, the French came to the Scott's to incorporate Stratford bloodlines in theirs..

Yes, the ones as a majority in Memphis were on the little smaller size. I do not breed for the smaller ones, but that is what I have been getting lately myself. I have and still sitting on a couple hoping they will turn out bigger than they are. I still have hope. I am also glad that I now have my Cha-Cha, since I think she will be a little bigger - probably 5.5 - 6 pounds when she is finished.
You can go to one show and there will be smaller sized and other shows have them more up on leg and a bit bigger. Just depends, from what I have seen. It comes and goes.

I'm having a bit of the opposite......except one girl that at this point has everything but size......I've never had one this small......however, she was premature and hoping that she'll catch up. Wondering if miracle will do the trick.

I know what you mean - on the miracle thing. I am really hoping on this one girl I have, great pedigree, and oh what a sire she has! She has the attitude too and the confirmation, like you said everything but size. She just turned one a few months ago and just barely 4 pounds. The sire's owner/breeder said though to me to wait, since his pups grow slow. I need to just wait. So that is what I am doing.

I'm baby sitting one of my breeding right now.....when I saw him last.....he looked long and short......He's just over a year.....and all of sudden he's up on leg......So, there's a change for your girl.......hoping it's so for mine.
