BOB 2009 Westminister Winner hasn't been determined......

Again, if this has happened, whoever, the dog is, we can only do what we know is right for us and not be concerned about what everyone else is doing.....not my problem.

I think a lot of the bitch pups out now are leaning to the smaller side of the standard..so using an oversized bitch is self defeating for many reasons.

Totally agree here. I just did not go into more detail. I see not problem with breed a larger male with a slightly smaller female. Like you said, you have to consider the whole package.

You are so right Pat....I've been seeing more and more dogs on the smaller side on the west coast.

You're welcome. While I've stated many times I don't breed much, I do feel I have enough knowledge to lend a hand if I don't know the answers my mentors are only a phone call away :) I do rely on my mentors and those more experienced than me. They are a wealth of knowledge and experience more than a book or video can ever do justice....
And the longer I'm involved in this the more mentors I gain! It's been wonderful getting to know and rely on some of the most reputable breeders in yorkies!!!

Btw...Sure shot is not even in the top 5 for the year :) Just wanted to clarify his rankings :) but I will say he is in at #7 through the end of September :)

My my knowledge and training was gained from the best.......my mentor is still my mentor and if you go back on past posts....I've shared my journey with anyone on YT. It's here for anyone to read.

You don't have to take anyone's advice....the choice is yours.

I'm also very selective on who I pass all my knowledge too.

how odd, you always come off with the one with the most knowledge, sorry if this was an offensive question :confused: :rolleyes:
but I am learning when someone offers up so much knowledge, i will look further into their actual background in the breed and their experience not meaning the experience of their mentor. :p

I am not sure I understand this. Doesn't the size of dogs vary from region to region and from year to year? Sometimes I see bigger yorkies in the ring and sometimes smaller ones. Just because a bitch is oversized does not mean that she can't produce nice smaller offspring if bred properly.

Also, when it comes to size you have to consider more than just how much a female weighs. Females yorkies seem to be like many of us women, when we are younger we are lean and then when we have children we get that middle aged spread.:) A female can be within standard but once they are bred and have pups they can easily go above standard size by a couple of pounds. You have to consider the whole package.

Didn't mean it to sound harsh. But, I know nothing of you and my life is an open book for everyone to read.

I will tell you before I ever entered the ring, my mentor put me to the ringer...classes, training, and traveling with her and her handler before she placed a dog in my hands......

I was only allowed near a whelping box after I finished 3 Champions.......and went on to handle my mentor's dogs..

I've learned from the best and not only my mentor.......since those are the ones that I sought out.....
