I have decided to go ahead and get her. I really like Susan and she is very helpful and she has offered to mentor me. You have to start somewhere and I feel that this is a great opportunity for me to get into the show ring. Since there are a lot of local shows, I can start going to the shows and get her accustomed to everything at a young age. I am going to wait until she is at least 12 weeks to get her because I think that is better for her in the long run. I prefer to get my babies at 12-14 weeks rather than earlier.

I remember Susan and her coming on here sharing her showing experience with Elijah. She just got into showing in 2007. She seems very nice. Just remember and I am sure that Susan has told you - when you buy one so young you have no idea if it will be right for show. Let us know how it goes as you go through your showing experiences. And I am sure I will see you at the shows. Showing is not cheap, but a lot of fun.

I prefer that size too! If you want to win in group someday - you better have one 6-7 pounds! The small ones just get hidden and do not show up against the other dogs in the group, let alone BIS. And if people keep breeding small yorkies, they are going to get smaller and smaller - not a good idea for the breed.

You're right and especially if you attend the National dogs are at the upper end of the standard. That is unless for some reason a judge has been obtained that likes a smaller dog, then everyone will take a smaller dog.

There is so much that goes into a pup becoming a champion.

yes I have a Champion that is my champion and as far as the picture being to small the picture is of him winning his Champion and Best of Winner and we did this all in 4 AKC shows in six week period.
