Question about points for classes. I will have two novice puppies in the July UKC show and my other gal in the one year old class. She turned one this week. there is another big UKC show in Lexington, Ky in September. My novice puppies will be old enough to get in a pointed class then. They will go into the six-nine month class. My question to you is, Should I put them in the regular class or the "Bred By Class? Where do they have a better chance as six month old puppies? There is another show in Kentucky the first of November, I could put them in regular classses for the Sept. show (For experience) and move them to the "Bred By cklkass in November. I want to put them where they have the best chance to get pointed. I don't think I have ever seen any puppies in the Bred By class so I might not have competion in that class. Thanks.

I haven't shown in UKC, but I will tell you what a judge told me when I showed Sheba in puppy... I was told that a judge has a little more leeway if the dog is in puppy vs. bred by as they are judged as adults in that class. In Yorkies this is a big deal, because of how our breed matures. JMO - but I would show in the puppy class.

Thanks Sonja for the input. It's just mind boggling that they would judge a six month old puppy the same as an adult tho.

| I agree with Sonja. In UKC you have puppy and than junior for dogs under 2 years of age. It's always best to show them in puppy class as there is no advantage to showing them in breeder/exhibitor in UKC. Since UKC doesn't allow professional handlers that class doesn't seem to have as much impact.

Tami, that's kind of what I thought too. I am glad you mentioned the JR. class. i thought it referred to Jr. Handlers. So since my girl will be 14 months old in July at the show, when I feel out her paper I put Jr. in the class section? They have a deal 100. for all shows preregistered. That is a savings of 50 so I am going to pre-register her. My puppies will compete against each other in Novice puppy tho. That will be fun.
