Just wanted to let you guys that show know. Dorothy Dalton DQ'd a puppy today at the Orange Empire KC show in San Bernardino, Ca. for being to light in the head! Ridiculous!! JMO

how old is the puppy? That upsets me but I heard several judges are doing this since the new color standard came out.

Furgie is light color on top will she stay this way or will it change to brown? Here is one of her latest.

The head takes the longest to clear to shaded tan. Looks like she will eventually go tan, but it might be a light tan.

You know I have a problem with puppy's being DQ'ed that is where the problem is going to be when yorkies that I've seen that look almost white as an adult winning or placing that is where the DQ should be applied JMHO! I will mark Dorthy Dalton as a judge I won't take a puppy too...or an entry at all...

I sort of understood the DQs when the standard first changed but the clarification that was sent to judges clearly explains why puppies should never be DQed. It shows pure ignorance on the judges part. If they will not put forth the effort to learn about the breed they are judging then they do not belong in the ring. Really, how much time does it take to open an envelope and read.

The few times I showed a puppy this fall, I had the clarification in my pocket.
If a judge offered to disqualify my dog, I was going to hand it to them.

Between fees going up and judges DQing puppies it may be difficult to find a major this year. When you go into the ring you expect the judge to have done their homework and know what they are judging. It's hard enough to educate myself, I didn't expect to have to go into the ring and educate them as well!

Where I find judges that are DQ'ing puppies are the provisonal judges those are judges new to the breed in judging. There are a couple of judges that have been doing it for years that have used the DQ but not on puppies I don't think but young adults. Roslie Anderson DQ'ed a dog for being too light and I agree with that DQ and I will show to her.

I was planning on entering the spring shows here in AZ, but now have changed my mind on that.Ok, Im thinking about it!!LOL I put alot of blood, sweat and tears as well as research, study, and money into these wonderful dogs. And then to have uneducated judges Dq them?? four years and 10 months to go.Then, hopefully, the YTCA can "clarify" the standard to these judges.

I won't show to Usherwood or Filburn but that is my choice but I won't show to many judges LOL even ones that don't use the DQ
I can't remember who all has used the DQ

I cant believe this judge DQ'ed a puppy. It just shows pure ignorance to the standard and the stipulations within.

I wish there was another way to "rate" judges, other than by just witholding our entries. Wouldn't it be nice if judges had to face an annual 360 evaluation by exhibitors and other judges? Wishful thinking lol...

There is just a new disqualification. There is also a directive that goes along with it that apparently some judges haven't bothered to read. Hopefully, anyone having a puppy that is DQ'd will report the DQ to their AKC rep.http://ytca.org/frame_index2.html

I don't know how old the puppy was. Mary's husband Rob was the one that witnessed this DQ. Mary was getting her girl ready. She thought it might have been 6 - 9, if so, that would make it even more ridiculous. The catalog should be marked in a day or so and I will check it out.

Filburn is judging in Atlanta on Saturday. Should be interesting. I did not enter under him. Just my right and my choice. I will be showing on Sunday. I heared Filburn will not take on any more assignments for yorkies for now.

that's what I hear but like I've stated before it's always the judges ring and they can do what they want :) but I can do what I want and chose not to enter under certain judges :) There are judges I won't show under and they have never DQ'ed but they don't like my type of yorkie so I won't waste my money showing to a judge that doesn't like the type of yorkie I show :)

I do the same thing - look if I have a chance or not with what I want to show.
With Gi - it did not matter whom she showed under - she always did really well. Unbelievable! They are seemed to love her. :thumbup: We just showed her at all the shows at theat time and she won most all of them.

I'm so very confused...looks like Mrs. Dorothy A. Dalton was judging Westminster in 2007 Non sporting breed http://www.westminsterkennelclub.org/2007/judges/ how can you ignore that? :confused:

She may be a good judge of other breeds but she is not interpreting the Yorkie standard correctly with the addition of the DQ for unacceptable show colors. I believe the standard states that puppies are not to be DQ'd and yet she went right ahead and DQ'd a puppy. So, if she is unable to interpret the standard as written, then I see no reason to enter under her.(or a few others) It would be a waste of time and money.
