Shelter yorkies DFW So we get in yorkies at my shelter quite often. I thought maybe I'd start an on going thread for Yorkies or yorkie like dogs at Operation Kindness in Carrollton. So if anyone is looking they can always easily check here. These animals are first come first serve and if you are interested I would call or check their web site to make sure the dog is still there as we have a pretty high adoption rates. Thanks for looking and thanks for thinking about adopting- yorkies DO come into shelters, please rescue! |

3 Attachment(s) My first one for this thread is princess Penelope! She was found as a stray, a good Samaritan saw her almost get hit by a car and stopped to save her. She was in rough shape but cleaned up beautifully. She was our 400th dog to get groomed through our grooming fund (I shaved her :D). She was licking me the whole time! She does not like walking on leashes and is a lap lover! She just wants to be held. She gets along with other dogs but I don't really see her 'play' with them. We are estimating she is about 5. I thought she would get snatched up right away but she has been at the shelter since last week. Super sweet girl! Thanks for looking! info posted 4/15/13 |
Update- Penelope has not been feeling well, she went to foster for a few nights and my be tested for pancreatitis :( She should be back up for adoption soon |

1 Attachment(s) 2 updates- Update #1 Penelope got adopted today, her throwing up was probably just due to stress and she didn't have to be stressed any more because as soon as she came back available she got adopted to the perfect home! Update #2- Yorkie mom dumped at Dallas Animal Control with 5 puppies. They are saying yorkie mix because we can't guarantee their purebred but they look pretty yorkie-ish to me. We are waiting for a foster home to pull them but we should have 5 yorkie puppies in about 6 weeks :D Just goes to show- if your patient you CAN find yorkie puppies in the shelter! Go rescue! |
I am glad Penelope found a home and hope mom and babies all find loving forever homes. |

1 Attachment(s) @yakkwak- Hope to see you soon, we get the cutest yorkies in here, its ridiculous! I added a picture of "Barkley" with his new daddy. Barkley was an owner surrender from a lady that felt like she worked too much for an energetic puppy. He was only 11 months old and even had his akc papers! He went home with another young yorkie and I'm sure they are going to be the best of buds. I love my job :D |
Barkley is certainly a cutie, so happy Penelope found her forever home. Hopefully puppies and momma will be adopted soon... |
1 Attachment(s) Ok, so this one is not 100% yorkie but she is 100% adorable! We are guessing Yorkie, Chihuaua mix, she is only about 5 months old. Someone just gave her away to some random person then that random person decided a young puppy was too much for them so they brought her into the shelter. She is very sweet but a little scared from all the recent turmoil in her life. She should be available soon, we named her "ladybug" :D |
These poor lil babies. I am so thankful that people like you help out by working at a shelter. praying for these lil guys to find the love they deserve. |

New 7.19 3 Attachment(s) New female came in yesterday! She is about 1yr old and sweet as can be. Very lap loving and affectionate. She came in a tangled mess- I'm including before and after pictures as well as the huge mat I shaved off. She is a little naked now but feeling much better. She looks like a parti color yorkie (maybe beiwer mix?) she will have the prettiest coat when it grows back. Looking for a young yorkie in the dfw come on down to Operation Kindness and meet this adorable girl! |

8/1- New beauty! 2 Attachment(s) Meet London! She is about 1 1/2, 12.8 pounds and just stunning! She is a great chocolaty dark color with black (ok maybe I'm biased because she reminds me of Molli). With a little tlc her coat will look georgous for sure! She is very sweet. She is brand new and not available yet but I thought I'd give you guys a sneak peek because I think she is SO pretty! Take a look! |

She was is 1 year old, transferred from a nearby city shelter so we can find him a loving home. She can be a bit shy at first, but quickly warms up to you if you go slow with her. If you are a laid back family looking for the same, this is your dog!!! She would make a great companion for a household with older more mature children. *Rex is very cute little 2 year old yorkie mix. He is very sweet once he gets to know you but takes a while to warm up. He may not have had the best experiences in his past and is very nervous around new people. Once he knows you he will sit in your lap and loves his soft hair petted. He would do best in a calm adult household who will give him lots of time and patience as he slowly blossoms into the sweet love bug we know he can be. Axle- new 8/22 2 Attachment(s) We just got this one in- he is not checked in yet but should be in the next couple days. He is about 2 years old and probably around 8 pounds. Axle had some long mats in his coat but was so nice when I cut them out. I luckily was able to save his beautiful coat and now he is clean and feeling great. This is a very sweet, mild mannered guy who would probably be fine with gentle kids. Come on down and meet Axle! |
Special boy- Conner 8/22 3 Attachment(s) Say hello to Conner. He is a very handsome little yorkshire terrier. His family was moving to a place where they could not have animals and they had to give him up. He lived with 3 young kids but may have been mishandled by them because he is very nervous of fast movements and loud noises. The morning after he came in a young girl reached into his cage while he was in the back of it cowering in fear and he bit her finger. Since then he has really come out and begun being playful and cuddly. He loves belly rubs and being held and brushed. Conner is vary nervous of strangers and new people but once he gets to know you he quickly turns into a love bug. We would recommend an adult only household willing to take things slow with this boy and give him lots of love and understanding. He goes potty outside and seems to know what potty pads are for. Conner has stolen my heart, he is so sweet and has gotten a bit of a bad rap here. |

New 8/25 4 Attachment(s) Conner Adopted, Axle still waiting to be available Rhondi- 6 years old, 10.5 pounds. A sweet little Yorkshire Terrier mix who was transferred from a local city shelter. She was brought to Operation Kindness for a chance at finding a loving new home. This little girl is a little shy at first but so loving once she gets to know you. She would probably do best in a calm household with older children. She is adorable and waiting on the right person to rescue her. Come meet this little darling and give her a loving home go call her own. Anders- 2yr old 10 pound beautiful Yorkie mix transferred to us from a local city shelter. He's got perky ears, Perky tail and a perky personality to match. Probably good with kids. |
