| I have actually been really surprised at the large number of yorkies, poodles, and other small hypo-allergenic types we get in at my shelter. Some are rescues from puppy mills but a few have just been owner surrenders. Just a couple have been "found" like Skully. It breaks my heart to think of him out on the street for who knows how long. Makes me wonder if he got out or if someone just 'set him free' because he is older. I'm sure I'm gonna cry when he gets adopted but hopefully the adopter will let me keep in touch, I've really grown attached to this little guy.

| The few I've contacted over the years said no and that most don't...You know how I feel about shipping animals, but exceptions for the good of the animal need to be made.... can you pm me more info?

| We do not ship our pups under any circumstances. If a person wants to adopt, they must be willing to pick the pup up at his foster home. There is no reason for us to make any exceptions to that policy.

| That is the way our Rescue Group is as well. If they want to adopt they must be willing to fly or drive in to pick up the dog. We have had many adopters do this.

So....Chris's Rescue Angels does it...and I know that United Yorkie Rescue used to....I doubt they changed that policy...and Yorkie Haven does it. So..that is three rescues that adopt out of state. I believe that someone said that YTNR does as well.

| I agree with you, what I was asking can someone pick one up in person and fly back home with them? I was under the assumption that that was unacceptable? (Realizing of course that all rescues have different rules)

| No, it is not unacceptable and I don't know of a yorkie rescue that does not allow it, although I cannot speak for all of them. Of course, sometimes there might be a pup they will not let go out of state .. all depends upon the pup and what is best for him/her.

OMG I always thought that when I saw WE DO NOT SHIP etc., that it meant they wouldn't allow someone to take the pup and leave on a plane! Honestly...I am so daft at times...! Thanks for letting me the info!

| It is explained on the YHR site if you click on the Adoption Form link; but I don't know about other websites.

| I have been to the YHR website many times and last night/morning (couldn't sleep) I looked at each section and I do have to say that of all the sites of rescues I've been on this is by far the best...the information, the detail, everything about this site is top notch and an incredible testament to what REAL rescuers do and their hard work at helping for all the right reasons...thanks for all you do!

| ...in other news....Skully got adopted today ![]() He went to the best family, exaclty what he needed, an older couple home a lot and they had their last yorkie for 14yrs. It was bittersweet saying goodbye but they said maybe we could have puppy play dates sometime and promised to send pictures and updates. Happy ending to sad story. I am glad he got the home he deserved and I learned some vaulable lessons about how spoiled my dogs are
