Dexter is not on the YHR site yet...probably will be in the next couple of days; but wanted to share a picture with you. This is Dexter looking at his pupcakes for his Birthday celebration with his foster sisters! His foster mom reports that he is adjusting well and is a very happy boy!

On the site it says Dexter is a female. I'm confused now.

Yes, that is his adoption fee and it is the highest fee YHR has. Rescuing yorkies is not a cheap venture. For an explanation of our fees, you might want to review the following link. It explains them well.

Because he is the youngest. The fee is based on age. Be sure to check out the link I just posted. It is an eye opener.

Of course you can always review a rescue's 990 on GuideStar nonprofit reports and Forms 990 for donors, grantmakers and businesses to see what they take in and what they expend. That is usually quite the eye opener for people as well. I never knew until I got really involved. Rescue is an expensive venture.

Honestly, I know people that pay a lot more than that for Yorkies. I am not thinking that $600 is that bad. But that is just my opinion.

Oh, it is not that bad at all. Everything is done! We don't adopt out until they have been altered and fully vetted.

Most people who adopt understand that rescues never break even on adoption fees and many of them actually donate more money than the adoption fee. They are happy to support rescue. They understand where the money goes...they buy into what rescue is. Not every pup is healthy and young...and we take any in, regardless of age and medical issues providing we have the space.

Summer and Gabby are living proof of that! Those two have a special place in my heart. I have lived their story with them. And have seen what a difference YHR has made!!

I know the $600 sounds high but I have a friend who paid $800 for a pup that was about a year old. She is not fixed and she has major dental to be done. So you are talking hundreds more. Linda, I think sometimes it is hard to see the expense that has been done on some of these rescues. I believe once people really think about that they will see the $600 is well worth it! Not only to have the pup vetted and fixed, but to support wonderful rescues like YHR.

I didn't mean too much, I meant for that beautiful young puppy that is a steal, considering how much they really sell for. Yes, I totally agree about YTNR "selling" dogs. I use to be on that rescue and I "know" what goes on.
