Just checking in to see how Miss Gabby is doing. How did things go with the new cart?

My vet spoke with the internal med specialists at A&M; and they said the above mentioned medication disappeared with the dinosaurs. :eek: Anyway....there is no proof that it works. I am glad I followed my instincts and had my vet call them. Instead they suggested a once/day dose of the Nitrofurantoin (the antibiotic that she has been on that costs as much as gold :eek: ) and frequent expressing of the bladder of course. So, that is the course of action now regarding her UTIs.

Gabby got her cart.....it looks so tiny and cute. She stood in the hallway and did not move when we first tried it; but once I got her home she was walking within a few minutes!! She is sleeping right now....guess it wore her out. :)

I will have to get videos soon of her in this cart...so cute. She walked through the entire house!!

Good to know! We may need to figure something out with Layla's expressing too, so we can do it more often. We've found it's tough to rely on others to do it because we've already "employed" 3 people and had them all flake out :( We'll see what the vet says after we figure out what's causing the infection this time.

I'm glad to hear she started walking in the cart! She will get very used to it soon enough :) I can't wait to see a video!

So happy to hear this. I am excited for Gabby, this is going to be a whole new world for her. Can't wait to see the video:)

We are working with her and her cart. At first she was all over the place....now she often just stands still looking bewildered. Hopefully she will soon learn to love it. She has an appt with PT tomorrow.

Thanks LJ for the quick response. I think of Gabby many times and how lucky she is to have someone to love her. Thanks for all you do.

Just spoke with the physical therapist and we are holding off on Gabby's appointment. It was to adjust her cart and since she is not really relaxing enough in it, the adjustments cannot be done yet. Usually after they settle into them, their back elongates a bit and the cart needs an adjustment. She gave me some additional tips for getting Gabby moving.

She is really good around the house. She actually has figured out how to get out of traps...when she gets caught on a corner, she backs up. The therapist told me it takes a while for them to get it...not Gabby! :) She loved being outside...sniffing the grass and all..but did not walk around much out there.

Seeing these pictures of Gabby out-and-about just melts my heart. Sounds like she is enjoying being mobile.

And of course, Gabby is a "smarter than the average bear" and would figure out those maneuvers quickly. (Giggle - you might have a hard time keeping up with her after she gets proficient. ;):D)

Gabby is amazing. I remember how heartbreaking it was to see the original video of her trying to walk when she first came on the scene. Now she is an inspiration to all who have old or handicapped pups.

Boy..you can just see it in her eyes, like she has been given a new lease on life. She looks so happy and carefree in the pictures and quite at home in your house. I am so happy she is doing well I know how much you wanted this for her.

I just love those photos of her out and about in her cart. I wonder if it is more difficult to roll through the grass maybe as she gains more strength in her legs she will roll around in the grass easier. It really is wonderful to see her face light up in these photos.
