Gabby news: First of all, that red thing on her eye (the conjunctival graft) will be there forever, but will change in time and not be so red. It is basically a patch on the cornea. It was either cover the hole that the calcium deposit had made, or lose the eye. So, while she will probably have little vision in that eye she will hopefully keep the eye. Even that right now is not guaranteed. She is to continue the Mefoxin eye drops for two days along with the Ulcer Mix. Then, after two days she will only get the Ulcer Mix in both eyes. Today we are starting cyclosporine twice/day in the right eye because she has terrible dry eye and is at risk of that eye getting like the other one. So...Ulcer Mix every two hours until next Wednesday when she will be re-evaluated. She does not seem to be bothered by it and keeps the eye open at all times, so that is a good thing. She has learned her name and comes when I call her! I was starting to think she could not hear, but she can! And, when I talk to her she tilts her head from side to side...precious little girl! Thank you SO much, all of you, for your generous support, kind wishes and prayers. |
Great news...Go Gabby Go, I love to hear that she is continuing to improve. I just love the yorkie head tilt..almost like they hang on every word! LOL Sounds like she has really settled in well. Keep up the good work LJ all your love and care is surely paying off. |

I don't know how you do it, either, but there's a special little yorkie girl named Gabby that is very thankful for the special care she's receiving. I really hope she can keep that eye. She's just so very precious. I always figured they were trying to understand what you're saying when they tilted their heads at you. It's really cute, whatever the reason. |

You are all so kind. Any rescuer will tell you that this is what we do....and we reap great benefits from it. These pups know we are saving them and they are wonderful little babies. Sometimes it is tiring and definitely frustrating; but as I said, there are rewards. Just seeing them improve is worth it all! Some of you will remember little Ella that Lena with YTNR had....just a totally wonderful story. There are so many out there. |
I am just now seeing the update from Gabby's visit to the doc yesterday. Glad she is not in pain and can keep her eyelid open. Also, love the description of Gabby tilting her head from side to side when you talk. Doesn't that just melt your heart? Thank you for all that you have been doing for this sweet little girl. |

Gabby sounds like a real sweetheart. :) She's so blessed to have you to help her. Thanks for the update! |
Gabby has discovered what we have known for a very long time. Her foster mom has such love and devotion for precious pups who are most in need of love and help. I can tell how grateful Gabby is for being rescued by someone so special, and she loves you a great deal. Thank you for sharing Gabby with all of us and for all that you do to help not only the pups but this community too. |
