Oh, how scary. I will say a prayer for her. Yes, it is a very expensive thing to take care of. I am actually surprised they are only charging $100. |
Just know that she will come through the surgery with flying colors! Thanks goodness you noticed! |
Mindy is OK omg what a stressful day.... I just called Steve and Sue and let them know how she was doing. I picker her up from the clinic at 4:30 and when they handed her to me she felt about 5 pounds lighter!! What she had was closed pyometra and she showed no signs of it except the weight gain and I feel horrible! So from now on when i hear or see people say they wont spay their girl, I WILL let them know what horrible things can happen, this could of killed her!! I had only heard about it before now, never dealt with it, but now I know and this little angel did not need to go through this. The guy we got her from, I will be laying into him about his part in this. i will write more later, I need to go get some liver to make her some liver juice... thanks everyone for caring about Mindy:) |
Thank God she is ok. I have been really worried. |
Preping For Mindy I talked to our vet today .they will be meeting Mindy next week . We will be gettiing Mindy up to date on her shots and checkups etc.... They say they can pretty much tell her age so I will give them a shot . We are really excited to be getting her home .I think she will love it here , and will be spoilt rotten hehe .:aimeeyork :love::aimeeyork :thumbs up Can U tell I just found the fancy emotes ?..... Steve |
:congrats::clapsmile:mademyday I love love happy endings! |
Mindy has just gone home with her new family. I just adore Sue and Steve, they are the most wonderful people I have met in a long time!! I feel like I will always have a friend in them and Mindy is going to continue to be loved and spoiled, and very well taken care of. Mindy is doing great as well. She is healing very quickly. Letting her go is hard, but I KNOW this is best for her. I wish I had a big farm and could keep every dog I took in..hahaha.. But this was all meant to be, I have no doubt about that. I gave Mindy her booster shot yesterday and she got her rabies done when she was spayed as well as micro-chipped. Steve and Sue are going to take her for a check up with their own vet and get her established there and make sure all is good after that terrible infection. I am sure we are all going to be seeing some pictures soon of Sunshine and his new pal Mindy;) I already miss her but I feel good about it too. Happy endings, my favorite;) |
That dog is so lucky for having you to foster her and help her deal with her issues!! |
Congratulations to all of you! I look forward to hearing more about how Mindy is doing and seeing pics!! :) |
I am so glad they caught this when it was caught!! Wow, thats a close call. Your right she could have really gotten very sick with this. I bet you do miss that little doll. Look what you gave her! The best restart ever!! Hooray Mommadog! We can wait for pics from her new Mom and Dad now!! |
Mindy and her first day home We got home at about 7:00 ,after a stop at our local pet supply shop. Got a fluffy pad for her crate ,a new harness and lead (pink);) And new food and water dishes . Brought Mindy in the house in her crate , I was going to leave her in for a while to get accoustomed to the home , She was having none of that and wanted out right away . So I took her out and showed her the backyard ,she really enjoyed checking out all of Sunshine's "spots". After potty business and sniffing every thing in site we got her in and had our dinner . Mindy is very mello , she really wants to be friends to Sunshine but he is still really nervous around her . They played a bit but we have a way to go , Mindy has already mastered the doggie door so we do not have to play door man to her ;) Though out the evening they both hung out on the sofa <with mom>. They both went to bed , in their respctive crates at bout 2:00. And they both slept thru the day with us . We are on a grave yard shift at my house and the dogs seem to be ok with it . So now they are both just cruising around the house and eating and relaxing . Will try to get picts later today . So far so good we love her very much . Steve |
What a great story. I love happy endings! |

We took Mindy to meet the vets today ,and will have a checkup next week after she is fully recovered from her surgery. Then to the groomers for some pampering . I posted a little clip in the video section of her and Sunshine checking out the new digs . So far they tolerate each other they will be best of friends soon I bet . Bye for now , Steve |

Update Well unfortunately things didn't work out between her and Sunshine so Mindy is back here with me. Sue and Steve are awesome and were very sad it didn't work out, but they were putting Sunshine first of course. And I am grateful to them for all they have done for Mindy, and me:) Needless to say I am in search of another home. This time i will be looking for a home with absolutely no other dogs. She is just a dog that wont have it any other way. hugs |

Sorry it didn't work out for Mindy...but, could you entertain the thought of surrendering her to a local breed specific rescue? As a foster mom for YTNR (Yorkshire Terrier National Rescue Adoptions and Shop), I can assure you that this would be the best chance for her to first be in a foster mom's home dedicated to securing a family & home for this little girl. They are experienced in screening potential homes and thus reducing the chances of her being adopted & returned when things don't work out. Here is a list of rescues that could help Mindy: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...nizations.html |

I talked to a retired couple yesterday evening who are interested in Mindy. They live half the year here and the other half in Florida. Their shih tzu died at age 17 last year and now they are ready for another dog. They are coming to meet Mindy Monday and if all goes well I will go meet them at their home after I check references (and with their vet). And if everything works out she will have a new home. They sound like good people and have no other dogs. Wish us luck;) |

I have actually sat in the Vet's office and heard first hand people bring in a relative or friends dog to be put down because the owner passed away and there were no other plans for this pet set in place. Please make sure you consider the "age-factor" into this placement. |

My adoption agreement states there must be a plan in place, and that I will take the dog back no matter what. Some folks retire earlier then others and as far as I know they are in their late 50's. Even if in 60's that is still young to me. Unfortunately nobody can predict how long they will live. I could go tomorrow and then what? Ya i have a husband but he wouldn't know what to do. This is something of course we all should prepare for...ugh.. thanks.. |
