Who was the rescue that pulled them? That is great they are able to adopt them out at that price....up here it costs alot more than that to vet them

I have put my application in to Save a Yorkie. I hope they will be getting some of these babies. I am still waiting for my first baby.:dog: My Rufus (Schnoodle) and I are looking to adopt a sister here in western NY. It makes me sick every time I hear about any animal not being cared for.:sickie: I would love more than one, but hubby says no.:( I love my boy and can't wait for a girl to spoil.:2hearts2:

It may take a couple of days for someone to get back to you, as they have been very busy with getting the yorkies settled and helping out with the ones still at the shelter.

I hope all the rescues who take these Yorkies in will be very diligent about screening prospective homes. Former puppy mill dogs have very special needs and will need rehabilitation. Their new owners will have to understand the baggage these dogs can come with and how to help them overcome it.

I know exactly what you mean. I took in a Shih-Tzu that had been with a breeder. She had never been outside. To this day, she refuses to potty on the grass. She always uses the deck or my husbands cement floor shop. I wish that I could get her to go on the grass, but thankfully, she is now at least going outside. We had the hardest time getting her to go outside not in the house. She's great now. She has the best personality.

Most rescues experienced with mill dogs will only place them in a home with another dog. Since most have had limited human contact, they have a strong pack instinct. That is their only security.

As you said, housebreaking former mills dogs can be very challenging. The poor things have gotten used to peeing and pooping in their cage. Some really can never be totally housebroken.

I have heard wonderful success stories, but I have also heard sad stories where these special souls were not placed with people who knew what to expect and how to rehabilitate them. I just hope all the rescues who get these dogs are very careful to select appropriate homes for them and provide support afterwards. Hopefully they will be flooded with applications so each and every Yorkie will find his perfect forever home.

I agree, that is why everyone in that area that wants one needs to find out where,when,who and how. As you know North Carolina uses gas chambers as I have posted before. Just go and find out who the rescues are and put your name on the list. Also someone needs to check to make sure no other Yorkie is left behind in that shelter. Dont just Phone, go down and check personally!!

Another member of YHR went to the shelter this morning and all of the dogs had been removed from the shelter by rescue groups.

WE have 18 of the dogs
 
We rescued 18 of the yorkies. They are on there way to south florida. We need donations. Please visit The Pet Health Cafe Radio Show to make a donation and help these babies. They are going to need a lot of care before they can be adopted!

WE rescued 18 of the Yorkies and they are on their way to South Florida. RIGHT NOW we need donations. They were a mess and are going to require alot of rehabilitation.

:bravo: What wonderful news! I am so glad that 18 are safely out of danger and on their way to you!

I am so glad they will be able to get the vet care and rehabilitation they need before being adopted.

THIS rescue that says they don't have any money? I cannot believe a group without the money to vet yorkies took them in. I don't see them on their site??

Loving Pet Adoption and Rescue

We had tried to help those yorkies and they were gone...to unknown groups. Now, I see this thread and have concerns for sure.

What rescue are you with? That site confused me?

I certainly hope that they are. I know of one reputable rescue that pulled eight of them, but have not heard for sure where the others are.
Just being pulled from a shelter is not necessarily safe. Not saying they are not....just wondering and hoping !

Ladyjane: I know someone who has knowledge of those working with Loving Pet. I was just curious about what Loving Pet was telling those who are interested in adopting. I was told the yorkies are getting all cleaned up and some have gone for spaying/neutering/vaccinations already.

Thanks so much....I got a bit concerned looking at the website, but it may not have been theirs.
I hope they are very careful in screening adoptive homes!

I also hope they are fully vetting them and getting dentals done. Those poor babies are probably in dire need of dentals.

I contacted them, and I haven't heard anything. I have 2 yorkies and would love to bring another one home. I wish that they would have contacted me.

If I lived in NC, I would be asking where the shelters are placing pups from mill and byb busts.
This is the second time that I have seen a large amount of yorkies seemingly "disappear" in the middle of the night. Our volunteers have gone to two different shelters first thing in the morning only to find them gone. BUT.....let there be one yorkie in need and he/she can sit there for days on end and no one steps up.
Now....in saying this, I am not saying that whoever pulled these pups is not doing the right thing. I am merely questioning it since there seems to be a mystery surrounding them.
I would be contacting authorities in my state demanding accountability! How do they know that these pups are not ending up back in the same type of miserable conditions?
Something else to think about....contacting the media....bet you would then find out more about where all of these pups went and how they are!

Good question where they all went...

My rescue was suppose to get some of them in...but we never heard back from the rescue that was pulling them out of RI... and was going to transfer some to us.....

I am going to try and see if that shelter was able to get any...they always work with those states so they are use to pulling and transporting from down there....they had alot of people going down...
