| Small Male surrendered to Loudoun County Animal Shelter Adopt a Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie: PRINCE: Petfinder Prince was surrendered to the shelter because the previous owner was no longer able to care for him. He was in need of special medical care when he first arrived, but is improving drastically. He has been quite sweet since his arrival and has been very tolerant with everything we have done with him. Prince has some pretty significant dental needs. His teeth need cleaning and they may be teeth that will have to be extracted. This can be costly, so any potential adopter needs to be aware of this need. He will need regular brushing as well as regular grooming to keep his coat in good condition and prevent matting. We are unsure of his house training status, but we have noticed he will bark to go outside, so it is more than likely that he is house trained. PRINCE is neutered. | Did you hear that crack? It was my heart breaking again. Gosh...don't you just wish you could take them all home? I hope someone can adopt this sweet little boy. |

I hate when shelters make *pet care* sound outrageously expensive. His dental could really only be $150 to $200 - who knows, maybe less (this is VA)

This is why I don't volunteer at our local shelter. I'd just be either taking home every dog and cat or I'd be paying for their Vet care so someone good could take them home. I'm a total "sucker" when it comes to animals. I think it's because they don't have a voice.

| I am bumping this because I see where Save A Yorkie is on YT and offered to take that one little yorkie that was posted on here. I believe that VA might be close to them? Or..does anyone know her to let her know about this one?

| ahhhh...they said they don't have anyone in that area, and that most of the time shelters won't work with rescues unless the dog is really old and sick So I guess, we should just hope and pray someone local will get him soon |

| I will call them tomorrow and see what I can find out. I don't ever assume that a shelter will not work with me. That is where most of our yorkies come from...shelters. But, then again, we also take them no matter what their age or condition.

| I just telephoned them. Prince is on the adoption floor. As I read his bio I was pleased that they are working on education of a potential owner.....there is detailed information there about his dental that needs to be done and the fact that he will probably lose teeth. This shelter does work with rescues if they are not able to adopt a pup out themselves. I have left our contact information just in case they do need to reach out to a shelter in the future. So, Prince is not in danger of euthanasia and they will be adopting him out to someone!
