Kirby still needs a permanent home so if you know of anyone who could provide a caring & nurturing home for the adorable pup please contact Patty Edwards at yorkielover@cox.net. Here is the newest on Kirby and his recent photos from Patty. . “For those that don't know, Kirby has been staying at my home since 12-31. He has adapted so well and is not a problem at all. He uses the doggie door but I do have to tape the flap up for him. When it is down, he does not know yet that he can push it open. He gets along with the other dogs on a one on one basis right now. I feel putting him with all at once might be overwhelming for him right now. He goes on two walks a day and does seem to enjoy it. He joins the other dogs at night on my bed until about 11PM and then they all go to bed. I don't hear from him until Carrie sounds the alarm about 6:30 or 7. Kirby is a good boy and seems to have radar. Very rarely does he bump into things. I think I bump into things more often than he does. These are pictures I took of him coming in and out of the doggie door and in his new bed. He loves his bed and almost looks like he is smiling when actually he has a bad bite but that just makes him more charming. LOL”

Little Kirby has a myspace page and a new blog About 7 months ago, Little Kirby's plight was brought to our attention by Dr. Will Kirby. A friend of his contacted him about a small Yorkie that was born with no eyes. Little Kirby was abandoned at a Vet's office and that was when a wonderful organization called "Yorkshire Terrier Rescue" stepped in. Dr. Kirby became involved in seeking out a caring home for this little guy as well as volunteering to cover the adoption costs, thus this adorable little pup became known as Little Kirby. He was placed in foster care until he would be old enough for adoption. During this time, his foster family helped him to adapt to his blindness. While he is a special needs dog, he has learned to adapt very well. Yorkies are intelligent, loving dogs and Little Kirby is no exception. With his cute overbite, he almost looks like he is smiling. We have some videos on the page so you can follow some of his development. Linda is currently providing a foster home for Little Kirby until a permanent "forever home" can be found and here is a quote from her: "For those those that don't know, Kirby has been staying at my home since 12-31. He has adapted so well and is not a problem at all. He goes on two walks a day and does seem to enjoy it. He joins the other dogs at night on my bed until about 11 PM and then they all go to bed. I don't hear from him until Carrie sounds the alarm about 6:30 or 7:00. Kirby is a good boy and seems to have radar. Very rarely does he bump into things. I think I bump into things more often than he does. He loves his bed and almost looks like he is smiling when actually he has a bad bite but that just makes him more charming. LOL" NB Pictures of him coming in and out of the doggie door and in his new bed can be found on the site under the pics section. Let's give Little Kirby something to really smile about. Please join us in helping this precious pup find a wonderful loving parent(s) to make a warm and nurturing home for him. If you think you know someone or would be the perfect parent for Little Kirby, please contact Patty or Linda at the email address listed below. Little Kirby is looking for his own special person or people to love. His myspace page is MySpace.com - Little Kirby - 77 - Male - Los Angeles, US - www.myspace.com/littlekirbylove Contacts: Linda – bejaze@roadrunner.com Patty – yorkielover@cox.net

Sweet Little Kirby I am in the process of buying a new home and would love Little kirby to come and live with me when we get moved in. I showed my son, he is 13, a video of Little Kirby and he fell head over heels in love with him. I tried to send an e-mail to let them know but my pc won't send. Maybe one of you can help me. I do have experiance with blind animals. My german sheppard was 18 when he passed away but he had been blind for almost 7 years. I would really love to be Little Kirby's forever mommy.

Kirby I am the one that is fostering Kirby right now. I have read some of the posts here and I realize that some think we are mean to not let someone adopt Kirby. We have not completely ruled out anyone that has filled out the application and returned it. We have had over 100 inquiries and only 4 have returned the application. We are trying to find Kirby a home with only one or two other dogs in the home and one in CA, AZ, NV or a western state so if the placement does not work out, it would not be so hard to get him back. We do have Kirby's best interest at heart regardless of what some of you might think. And I don't know where the person came up with just because someone does rescue that they would not qualify. If anyone wants to ask about Kirby and fill out an application please email me at darbygale@aol.com or Patty at yorkielover@cox.net.

I don't think you are being mean, you are being cautious and you should be. I also understand why you don't want him to travel so far away. I did tell my son that we have very little chance of being able to adopt Kirby and one of the reasons I gave my son was how far away we are. We do have a puppy about Kirbys age and a 7 year old sheppard. The sheppard mothers the puppy. I hope you find Little Kirby a wonderful forever home with people that realise that he is not a possesion but a member of their family. He deserves the best.

To everyone else, I've already spoken with Linda, Kirby's foster mom and the woman in charge of the rescue process and we have discussed all the concerns with my applications. We are still being considered but I do hope Kirby finds the perfect home, whether it be with us or not. Again, thanks for all of your support.
