| Donating YT 1000 Club Member | well my boy still fights me, but he is so small I can handle him..hehe.. I use Pet Dental for Dogs Poultry flavor, probably the same one Nancy mentioned. When mine were little and their teeth were loose I would play with them with a pull toy and this helped loosen their teeth quite a bit. I again also find that letting him chew on a hard rope or bully stick help to keep the tartar off along with the yearly cleaning. He doesn't have much of a problem with the bad breath anymore. ![]() I think we are going to go brush some teeth now. I use the long toothbrush you can get from petsmart to clean with. The finger brush never worked for me. |

| Donating YT 1000 Club Member | Oh, and I don't know if anyone else does this but I put a little toothpaste on the toothbrush and let him lick it for a little while. Kinda like him cleaning his own tongue... Just like we do..haha.. |

| I just tried to order some of this, and shipping to Canada is $41 for a 16oz bottle ![]() ![]() For that price, they better have it at my door step in an hour ![]() I'm currently using Suzie's Tartar Liquid, which is good, but I'm always out to look for something even better. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll try to look for it somewhere else (preferably a place that doesn't charge an arm & a leg for shipping lol). Quote:

Yeah, I see them around all the time, but I guess I'm curious to see which one works the best out of all of them

I would stay away from products that say they "freshen breath" this is just masking the problem; you need to treat the problem. So depending on what's causing the bad breath you do different things. There are certain liquids that say they soften tartar, but you still need to brush the teeth to remove the tartar. Tartar buildup causes gums to recede and pockets will form where food is lodged, and this causes bad breath, which then leads to tooth loss. You can see that using something to mask the problem isn't really going to help long term, and you need to get rid of the tartar. Profession tooth cleaning can do this, and many people have found that products such as Petzlife gel help. I'm also a huge believer in Bully Sticks too, and I think they help scrape the teeth, and keep them free from tartar. Remember tartar is a huge problem for yorkies. It's one of the breed's weeknesses.
