| ...on Saturday and it arrived today! WOW! Like 12 cans and 2 little dry pouches and a calendar! This stuff looks good enough to eat myself! These folks are really generous with their samples! The smallest ration it gives on the can is for a 10 lb dog. How much should I give my 2 1/2 lb dog? I don't want to give her too much...I guess she probably wouldn't eat it all would she?

| dalnna, In order to compare a wet food to a dry food, you have to make conversions...The percentages that you see on dry dog food bags are on a dry matter basis, so in order to compare the canned food to the dry food, you need to compare it on a dry matter basis. Here is an example: Food A (canned) contains: 9% protein 6% fat 1.5% fiber 80% moisture Take 9(the percentage of protein) divided by 20(the reciprocal of the amount of moisture in the food) and this gives you 45% So, Food A = 45% protein Canned foods contain much more protein than any dry food, so yes, I agree that 8% is very normal in canned foods. Evanger's is a very good food. Hope this helps you all

| How much of the Evanger food should a 2-3 lb dog get? I didn't get a response so I put down a 1/4 can and she only ate about 2 tablespoons...does that sound about right or do you think she doesn't like it?

| Not sure, it should say on the back of the can though. If not, see if it says on their website: www.evangersdogfood.com

| Didn't say anything. I'm banking on she won't over eat. Not like she's a tubbo anyway... Thanks for the tip - looks like quality stuff - AND!!!! No wheat gluten!

| I got mine today too! How cool! I got the case of cans and one packet of the dry. The dry I am using in the Buster Cubes as treats. I sent another e-mail to the company thanking them. I think that is really nice of them to send SO much! |

| Stef, how old is your puppy? I asked my vet how much food I should give my pup. It is wet & dry food mixed in. The vet told me to give him 1 tablespoon 4 times a day. The vet showed me with her fingers, she made a number zero and basically that is the size of my puppy's forehead. She said it seems funny but that dog's stomachs are about the size of their forehead. So my puppy's forehead is the size of a 50 cent coin. If you have a puppy like 3-4 months old ,2 teaspoons sounds about right. I feed mine 4 times a day and he gobbles up his food but always leaves food and goes back a few hours later. I also bought Evanger's canned food for Cookie until I learned that it was way too high protein for him! Anyway, I kept the rest of Evanger's so Ican feed a little bit to Angel when he's a little bit bigger. The ingredients are really good and you don't see any preservatives, coloring listed on their label. I smelled it and I thought if I was ever starving that I would probably eat some lol... | Wow. I gave a handful of the dry food to Brea and I have never seen her wolf down kibble like that before. She ate so fast and kept watching the other dogs so they couldn't get it. I've never seen her go after food like that. Can't wait to see how she reacts with the canned food! |

Better late than never. Baby LOVES the Chicken Casserole and the Chicken Drummetts. She didn't like the dry food. Dry I feed Artemis. They give free samples too. And about the protein, I thought the same thing, but there is some conversion you do to determine it. It's not really 8%. But, I'm not good at math so you're gonna have to try the conversion yourself. Somebody posted it on this thread.
