In order to compare a wet food to a dry food, you have to make conversions...The percentages that you see on dry dog food bags are on a dry matter basis, so in order to compare the canned food to the dry food, you need to compare it on a dry matter basis.
Here is an example:
Food A (canned) contains:
9% protein
6% fat
1.5% fiber
80% moisture
Take 9(the percentage of protein) divided by 20(the reciprocal of the amount of moisture in the food) and this gives you 45%
So, Food A = 45% protein
Canned foods contain much more protein than any dry food, so yes, I agree that 8% is very normal in canned foods. Evanger's is a very good food.
