| Bike Baskets? I didn't trust the reveiws on amazon. So I thought I would come here and ask. I need a carrier for two yorkies while riding a bike. I just recently moved to a place that makes it safe to take my two babies out with me. I would love some thing safe. So I thought who better to ask than other yorkie parents. Please help. I did a search but all the other threads were over three years old. If it helps the wight of my babies are 5 lbs and 3.5 lbs. Thanks so much. |

| With your babies being on the small side, I would recommend a handlebar basket. Any load over 10 lbs I would suggest a rear carrier. Too heavy in the front will throw off your steering. I can get a lovely wicket Solvit basket. Nancy1999 has a few good pics of hers. These come with a shade cover too. They are "knockoffs" of the Nantucket baskets which can run about $100-130. The Solvit ones are about $70. Other than that, any front basket will do. Just make sure you can put a cushion on the bottom, and there is a place to tether the leashes. Do some trial runs in your neighborhood to get them accustomed to it before you head out to, say, the beach or something.

| There are a couple members on here that have front baskets. I think it would be so fun to ride a bike with a yorkie on the front I'm trying to convince dh that it's a great idea. Good luck in your search, I'm sure others will have recommendations.

| I have the XL metal bike basket. I like that it has the metal arms that hook on each side of the tire in order to take any heavy weight off the handle bar. I made a little quilted pad for the bottom.

| here is the bike basket DH made for Jasmin. The basket is just your regular storage basket we got from the bathroom section at Target. We got two basket and combined it into one to make it taller using cable ties. The lining for the basket is made from dish drying pad which I cutted and fitted to the basket. We purchased two leash from Menards and put one on each side of the basket to attached to her harness vest. We purchased hardware from Home Depot to secure the basket to DH's bike. We spent less than $40 for everything. Jasmin loves bike ride.
