I really think the food has made the biggest difference. I battled tear stains regardless of the water and I tried all different brands along with food in the past.. Once I changed her food is when the miracles started happening! hahahaha!

| I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | We can talk about "most" dogs all we want, but so much of this is individual, and what works with your dog. I have no idea what caused the problem in Blue Wilderness, and many people report that their dogs thrive on it. You just have to find out what works with your dog, but I really believe excessive tearing is a sign of a problem.

| Aside from diet and water, their hair can be an issue too. Short hair around the eyes can irritate and cause tears. Either commit to keeping trimmed and away from the eyes, or grow them out and comb them out of the way. I keep trying to grow them out, but groomers kill me every time! Kaji sees a groomer twice, three times a year at most. I can't find one I like. I always ask that they never touch around his eyes and to never cut his muzzle short. I have yet to find one that listens.

| Here's what we're currently struggling with. As a note, the hair in the pic is after months of growth. The hair around his eyes just grows so slowly. I pulled the hair forward to make it easier to see. It tends to lie flat, very close to his eye. Often times, I'm pulling the hair out of his eye. | I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Joey doesn't have any tearing and no eye buggers either. My little foster is bothered by those crusty things, and while anoying I suspect they aren't caused by anything dangerous to his health. Sometimes, however, the tearing is so bad it can lead to yeast infections because the face is constantly wet.

Some people also suggest Vaseline to keep the hairs from pricking the eyes. If you're going to keep it short, be sure to look at it at least weekly to make sure it's not too long.

Yes, I did try the topknot gel but even with using teeny tiny amounts I didn't really care for it.. I don't know, just didn't work for me. I groom Taycie myself so she is so used to me messing with her! HA! I bathe weekly and I I trim around her eyes after her bath, along with whatever else she may need a touch up with! I usually cut her every 3 weeks because I love the fresh trimmed look ![]() Hey, but I am a hairstylist so... she can't have anything but perfect hair right???? LOL!
