What is the best shampoo for yorkies? I gave my Baily a bath the other day and the shampoo I bought at the vet doesnt leave his coat looking all that great and the conditioner sucks... Does anyone use something they are happy with? |
We love the Chris Christensen systems Day-to-Day shampoo and conditioner. We can even get 20% off at www.imapreciouspup.com :) It really makes Sully's coat oh so soft and sooo shiny! |

Shampoo The talk at the Philadeliphia show on shampoo is the Laser Lites line at www.laserlites.net |
For a while i used the CC system on my girls its a great product, last week i found a product called "Dog's N Stuff " and have to admit, im delighted about the results, they are so silky and shiny, though i have to add that i use salmon oil in their dry kibble too :) |
I love Harry Barker I use Harry Barker Oatmeal Shampoo on my baby, and it works really good, it doesn't dry their skin out and it smells great. The best thing is..the smell stays on longer then any other shampoo...I used to use Bio-groom...but I think Harry Barker is better... you can check it out at www.harrybarker.com |

I was just talking to my sister this afternoon about salmon oil for the dogs. Her vet recommended it for her Golden. I was going to do some research on it but maybe you can tell me what dosage do you give to your dog? and how much does your dog weigh? and how often do you give it to your dog? Okay, enough questions. :) |
Plush Puppy has a full line of great shampoos and conditioners. |

I use it for our Labrador and our yorkies, i bought a bottle with a little cap, on the cap it tells you how much to use according to the weight/size of your dog, i use 5ml for the little ones and 15ml for my lab, i use it for 2 weeks, stop 2 weeks and so on, its a product from Biofood with natural oils. My yorkies weigh 5lbs and 4,5lbs. |
i just ordered the Harry Barker shampoo today for my two lil ones i am hoping that it works well on them. is there anyone who has tryed their oatmeal shampoo before?:animal-pa |
I recently tried the Paul Mitchell oatmeal shampoo and conditioner along with the detangling spray. This product has worked great for my pup:). His hair is no longer rough, it finally has its shine and is really soft. Its also relatively inexpensive compared to other products out there. |
I just bought Pet Head's Tears for Fears and used it last saturday (I give Callie a bath every saturday) and tomorrow is bath day and shes not greasy looking or feeling like other shampoos I have used but she also dosent have long hair but it really works well for us. |
We use Cloud Star Buddy Wash and Rinse. I love love love it! :) |
I'm new to this site, so I'll just mention that I'm a professional pet groomer and have been grooming for 14 years now. In that time I have tried A LOT of shampoos and conditioners. The Chris Christensen is a great product. Many groomers use their lines with fabulous results. I have chosen to use Show Seasons in my mobile grooming business. It is considered one of the best lines on the market by professionals (As is the CC). Show Seasons has a unique conditioner called Results Rinse that does not weigh down a dogs coat and can even be used on cats. It is wonderful and I've never found another product like it. The Show Seasons company will only sell to groomers but I would think most groomers would order it for you and sell it to you. They also have a wonderful line of colognes. What is also great about the SHow Seasons is they have a Naturals line where they list their ingredients. Pet shampoo companies are not required to do this and most don't, but as a professional it's important to me to know what I am using on my clients pets. I think it's also important to ask your groomer what they are using on your pets. I've known some groomers who use nothing more than diluted dish soap, or the cheapest shampoo they can get. And as a side note, most shampoos you get at the vet are for a specific reason (allergies, skin issues, etc) and tend not to clean very well. Their focus is on treating the issue at hand, not really getting your pet clean. Sometimes adding a little hypoallergenic shampoo with the prescription shampoo will really help get your dog cleaner. Of course always consult your vte first. |
we love minksheen shampoo!! and buddy wash/rinse shampoo & conditioner. :) we also use ice on ice leave in/spray, for brushing! :) |
This might sound a little weird but I use baby shampoo on Molly. It's inexpensive, mild on their skin and it still leaves her coat shiny and smelly good:p I especially like the lavender sent:) Her coat is so easy to brush afterwards and it kinda helps with some of the matted fur that she gets on her belly. Hope this helps!! |

I've bought a dozen shampoos and conditioners to try since we got Annie 3 years ago.....the best one so far is Pet Silk. Her coat is smooth feeling, shiny and she's not itchy !! |
We got some free samples from Bio Groom and I was pleased with the first shampoo and conditioner I tried. Due to some cold weather here....it has been almost two weeks since their last baths and they still feel soft. I have tried alot of things and have been please with Chris Christenson, Vellus, and Coat Handler. I just find if I rotate shampoos every so often it helps. If a coat is very dry and needs some strong conditioning, I have used Biolage Ultra Hydrating Conditioner with great results. I actually lather them up and then use the dryer to heat it up and wrap in a warm towel for up to 20 minutes and then rinse out and within 30 days I can see a big change on a dry/damaged coat. And yes, it is a human product......so just make sure you rince extremely well. I also make sure they are getting a good food and supplement with fatty acids.....either salmon oil, missing link or summerwinds has a coat supplement. |
I got samples of BioGroom too.. I love it.. No itching an so smooth an silky.. I will definately keep getting it. Makes them smell good too!:D |
Chris Christensen or Pet Silk? I am using Coat Handler on my three Yorkies right now, but I am not thrilled with the results. Their coats seem a bit dry. I have used Kiehl's for dogs, and that isn't bad. I want to try either CC or Pet Silk, and am wondering if there is anyone who can give me a recommendation, and perhaps the best place to order? Thanks! |
I use MinkSheen |
