I just gave my first baths with Minksheen and loved it!! The smell reminds me of Avon's Skin So Soft (I grew up with my mom rubbing it on me to keep away the mosquitoes). They turned out very soft and shiny.

Minksheen shampoo

I guess everyone is different, but I didn't like the smell at all, she was very soft, but I get the same results with Coathandler and I like the smell.

This is the best shampoo for Yorkies

Royal Treatment is the best shampoo and conditioner. You can get it at Royaltreatment.com or on HSN.com. It is rather exspensive for it is GREAT!!!

I just requested samples of minksheen am anxiously waiting to try it. :animal36

Thanks for posting this, I know lots of people including myself who have used Johnson's Baby Shampoo on their dogs before, I'll pass this info along. :secret:

I just stated a Thread on that !John Paul Products
I use my vet products not to happy , but I just got John Paul Products, like the Tea Tree shampoo, water foam shampoo the condition and the ear and eye wipes, they r Cruelty Free- Tested on Humans First. Well some here at YT use it and either love or just like it, so it sounds like the products are good.

Anyone tried Pure Paws?

I was looking at YouTube videos recently and came across Pure Paws. Being an easy mark, of course I went to their website and ordered the Ultra Reconstructing Shampoo and Ultra Moisturizing Conditioner. They arrived with a free bottle of Shine Spray (haven't tried it yet as I was using The Stuff on the Mat King, Seamus). Yes, these products seemed expensive but are concentrated, mixing 1 oz shampoo or conditioner to 8-10oz water. The fragrance is fruity, not overpowering and definitely doesn't scream DOG SHAMPOO. These products did a great job of detangling and shining up both Seamus and the ever glamorous Emma (who has a thin, scraggly coat). In other words, we LOVE this stuff!!! It's worth it to check out the Pure Paws website just for the video of Yorkies with un-docked tails in the show ring!

you can check it out at www.harrybarker.com

I've been using Bio-Groom for awhile now. I like the was their fluffy puppy makes Ella's coat looks. But man does it stink. I may try out this Harry Barker since i am almost out of Bio-Groom.

From what I heard, they use Skin So Soft in their shampoo to keep the fleas away.

I was having trouble with itchy skin on one of my yorkies and it was suggested that I use HALO SHAMPOO. It is a PURE, NATURAL PRODUCT and the result is that he still is scratching but 90% less. There is no perfume in it and I think it is wonderful. I also use Tropic Clean conditioner.

NalasMommy 06-27-2010 08:53 PM

I love the pet head shampoo. I used the "lifes ruff" from petsmart. Love it. Hair stays cleaner and softer longer. Hair doesn't get oily nearly as fast. And smells good. It has a berry smell. I love it. Best shampoo by far. Cost about $10 at petsmart and comes in a cute container too w a bone shaped lid.

Hi all I am a new mommy of a really sweet boy named Wilson... He is everything and more to me. But his coat is one wild mess, he looks like a puffball and no amount of combing does the trick. I have used a hypo allergic shampoo on him as I am allergic to scent and it really doesn't make him very shiney plus his hair is hard to comb out. And as far as combs and brushes go what is the best. He is 4 months old.

Ehrenworth 07-03-2010 09:08 AM

Shampoo

I have had yorkies for 25 years. The well bred ones have soft silky coats.
Some of them have bushy coats and that sounds like what your dog has.

First of all, I would use a Psi pin brush with a face comb that is 4" in length, chrome with half fine prongs and the other half regularly spaced prongs. You can usually get all these items at a dog show or on line. I would try ©The Groomer's Mall-Professional Pet Grooming Supplies and Products for Dog, Horse and Cat Grooming

Secondly, I would try using Vet Solutions Shampoo with Tropiclean conditioner. Both are wonderful. If he has a dry itchy flaky skin problem try using Halo Shampoo and conditioner. Daily brushings and combings are essential to keep the knots at bay. Good luck and let me know how you are doing.

Vanille 08-22-2010 06:13 AM

I use Petsilk and I am very satisfied with it :number1ri

Yorkie Shampoo

I use Vet Solutions and am very happy with it. Also on my 2nd yorkie I use Halo shampoo which is all natural with Tropiclean Conditioner. All wonderful

When you use MinkSheen you don't have to use any detangler or conditioner? My yorkie gets mats if I don't bush 2 or 3 times a day so I have been using my salon product conditioner on him and it doesn't seem to help the tangling at all. :( I will def have to try this product!

JaxsonsMommy 12-31-2012 07:32 AM

Do y'all use any shampoo and conditioner from Petsmart?

Ehrenworth 12-31-2012 07:47 AM

Shampoo

I use Universal Medicated Shampoo. It is wonderful with their conditioner. This is excellent if there are no skin problems. Also, Dawn Original Dish Liquid is wonderful. This is what they use to clean the wildlife from the oil spills. It cleans the skin and coat and then you can use Universal Shampoo. I also use Tropic Clean Conditioner which is excellent. Petsmart stuff is very commercial and harsh on the skin.:)

Thanks, we only have Petsmart, Petco, Walmart, and Target around us. I don't buy online much.

Ehrenworth 12-31-2012 07:59 AM

Order from your vet

You could probably ask your vet to get it for you. Paul Mitchell Pet shampoo and conditioner is wonderful too.

ch774 12-31-2012 08:23 AM

Me too:)

From those stores, my choices would be from Petco: Espree or Paul Mitchell. I think Petco still carries both of those brands.

DillonLee 04-18-2013 12:10 AM

I'm wondering if anyone knows where to get the Paul Mitchell products in Canada?

AnneJ68 04-18-2013 08:24 AM

I'm very happy with Bio-Groom Fluffy Puppy Conditioning Shampoo(the second shampoo i tried on him). Bentley is only 4 moths old and I keep his coat trimmed short in the puppy cut. I'm very happy with the results of the shampoo on his coat.

Tiffylove 04-23-2013 05:33 AM

i have used the Paul mitchel shampoo and it was too strong for my Silky Yorkie that it dried out my baby's hair. I am currently using Pure Paws and i would really reccomend it.:animal-pa

I requested a sample of Minksheen after reading this thread. The response I got is below:

Unfortunately, we cannot financially support a sample program at the moment. We would love for you to give our Minksheen a try, we have a 30 day money back guarantee on all of our products. So, if you’re not fully satisfied with it, you can send it back to us to get a refund of the purchased price. The Minksheen is highly concentrated, with the dilution being 4 to 1 or 8 to 1, depending on the user’s preference, even our 2oz bottle ($2.95) can go a long ways. Our 16oz bottle for $13.95 will even last longer and is a better buy per ounce. It’s one of our most popular products and I would invite you to give it a try.

Thank you for writing and for your interest in our product,

Touch of Mink

I wasn't happy, but decided to order the $2.95 sample bottle. When I went to place my order, the shipping charge was $10.12!!!! Needless to say, they can keep it! I can't believe they will send free samples to some people, but not to others. BAD BUSINESS if you ask me:thumbdown. Lori

PennytheShorkie 03-27-2014 10:36 AM

I have a Shorkie Tzu (Yorkie s**t-Tzu Mix) And she has the silly yorkie coat and I have been using baby shampoo (she is a 2 month old puppy) and i think its drying her out too much since i HAVE to bath her since she's into everything and plays hard! (Making her a stinky girl) anyway is there a shampoo i can use that will help her flakes and make her coat shiny? And she's on the best food thats all natural that the Vet recommended and her hair is really starting to get long..
