| C.E.T. Dental chews Just received these in the mail. First time I have bought them. I am now afraid to give them after what happened with Marcel (Wylies mom). Anybody still giving them? These are the long, thin ones (enzymatic oral chews, petite). At what point do I take these away? Interested in any feedback. Thanks so much!

| CET chews What happened? I give them to my yorkies, but watch and take it away before they get to the end so they don't choke. My puppy has gotten it stuck on the top of her mouth. The vet recommended them to me, but I can see it could be a choking hazzard when it gets to the end. I do not give them to my pek because she has swallowed them whole, which she does to almost anything! |

| I have been giving Lady CET chew for years with no problems. I always make sure I watch her when I give her anything to chew, though. |

| I agree with everyone else, don't give your little one anything to chew without supervision, it would be like giving a toddler a piece of candy or a sucker and not watching them. They can choke on any type of chew. I only let mine have their chews when we are sitting on the sofa and they are next to me.

| We also use the chews and haven't had any problems so far. We don't take them away like some do, just always have them w/in eyesight while they're enjoying the treats.

| Are you using the long, thin ones or the bigger ones? I always watch my dogs with any kind of treats/chews anyway, but after Marcel choked it just makes you think twice.

| We've actually used both. I switched back to the thin ones because the bigger ones look more like a choking hazard to me when they've chewed them down to little nubs... they're really hard.

| Ok, I will read the dog first aid sticky this weekend, just to be on the safe side and we will see how it goes. Biggest concern (I have 3 yorkies) is my boy. He literally inhales his food, so gonna have to be really careful there. Thanks all!

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I loved those Petite size CET chews for Marcel - they really were the perfect size for him bc he has such a tiny mouth. But yup, I just can't give the Petites anymore. Maybe I would try it again if I held it in my hand the entire time, just to observe his chew pattern and see if he is able to bite anything off of it at all etcetera. If you do use the Petites, definitely take them away just as soon as it gets to a size that they could get into their mouth/throat. Also, if they *can* bite pieces off of the Petite size, I would really assess them the first couple times - make sure they are chewing the piece, not biting off the chunk and swallowing (as many dogs do). Now, we're using the Medium size CET for all of them - bc these are bigger and Marcel can't even consume much of anything off of the Mediums. They're just too big for him, but he still gets to gnaw. I'm glad that Marcel's scare (and his Mama's terror ) might help other furs be more safe, he loves that .
