Just bought the big bag of the RC and now my two little smartie pants, pickie eaters decided eek we don't want that no more. They have wet back to Bil Jac. I am taking the RC bag back to Petsmart just opened and only poured (1) cup out. They will take back if it is opened. |
For some reason, it's very hard to get dogs to switch off of Bil-Jac. When my girls were puppies, we fed Bil-Jac. Then I started learning more about food and wanted something better. It took FOREVER to get them to stop only eating Bil-Jac! What ended up working for us was Blue Buffalo (pink bag). We fed RC when we first got the girls. It gave Lily very itchy skin, as does all kibble. I don't think RC is as bad as some of the others offered but the quality definitely doesn't match the price. For the woman looking for cheaper (wet) dog food- have you tried Honest Kitchen? We use it. You can get some flavors for like $28/ for a 4lb box (17 pounds of food). That will last one of my dogs like 6 weeks or so. |

Ok thank you for your answer :D ! Royal Canin is only sold at few pet stores here in Iceland, and at the vets, so I guess its super premium :) ? Premium food is like ''OK dog'', and Pedigree and those products i think... I dont like giving my dog food with roadkills and by-products in it.. like ''Pedigree'' is :S Ive always been told that Royal Canin was the best dog food. Also I live in Iceland, so there are not many dog food i can get. The only Super Premium dog food thats sold here is Royal Canin and Hill's. |

Haha yeah, I think they should change a name :P Iceland is alot warmer than Greenland haha :D More green in iceland and more ice in greenland :P  |
About a year ago, Royal Canin was bought by "Mars" the chocolate company. I thought I heard that they were not going to re formulate the food:confused: I bet Mars just doesn't care about the healthful aspect of the dog food they make...after all, they mostly make candy.:( I use Wellness and I can always get it for under $13.00 for a 4lb bag. |

At some point I believe going completely RAW may be the cheapest option...and produce the best coat etc results. Prepackaged dog specific RAW foods can be super pricey! I do use Stella and Chewy's patties for raw meats as it is, well more convent in a couple ways. |
They made that change over in the Yorkshire about a year ago here. The price shot up, the bag changed & they must have changed the formula because my lot wouldn't touch the new stuff. Even if I hid it they managed to eat everything else but leave that in the bowl. I changed to Royal Canin Adult Mini & they eat that happily with no ill effects. |
Where I live i can't get anything else than Royal Canin, Hill's and some other dog foods, ive tried almost all of them, and only royal canin works for mine... Is royal canin just some junk food or what??? If its such a bad food as some people here on yorkietalk think, why do almost all vets sell it?? |

What a dog can tolerate does depend on what has been going on recently too. I used to feed Canidae with absolutely NO problems, they all did well on it. Then I had them off all canned for quite a while. Reintroduced the same Canidae canned food and they got the runs. It wasn't the food -- it was what they had become accustomed to. I have a feeling this is often the reason for such different experiences with the same food. Part difference in dogs, and part difference in what they are used to at the time. |

Ι always was give to my babies R.C but not any more. I dont think that is worth all those money. Here in Greece 3 kilos RC costs 21€ (=27$) . My vet give me another dog food, has the same quality with R.C as we see in ingredients and as my vet says, but it's cheaper .I use the new dog food about a month and everything is the same .I also cook for them some meals ! :) |
