Marci - the only point I was trying to make about buckleing a crate in is if they are loose in the crate (especially if it is hard sided and little big) they will be thrown around inside the crate and this can be dangerous - even more so if the crate is not buckled in. Still a better way to go than having them loose. But you are correct that if you were taken away in an ambulance, Layla would at least be secure in her crate.

Britster- It would work great for Jackson... Couver is 7 pounds, and I easily could fit two of him in it

I would definitely recommend this seat. I just wish the tethers were shorter. I've made quick stops, and Couver is hanging by his harness over the edge of his seat I also want to find a different clip because the one on it right now is impossible to undo with one hand.

I agree w/CouversMom, the Pet Gear seats are great. Mimi loves looking out the window & she's able to freely & also sit or lie down if she wants to. I can fit 3 of mine on there, so that's 15#'s. I use a coupler as a tether since there's only two tethers. Since the tether is not attached securely, it should be checked everytime they ride, & driving slowly & safely is a must. I drive like a race car driver (according to my parents Lol) but when they're in my car, I drive like a grandma (hope that doesn't offend anyone).

The PetGear Car Seat was just delivered and Chloe & Dylan love it! We haven't tried it in the car yet.....I just took it out of the box, put their blanket in it and they jumped in and fell asleep.
Will test it in the car tomorrow.....I like the way it's going so far.

I've had two Snoozer Car Seats for about 9 years....have traveled cross country with my dogs in them. They are safe, have the option of looking out and or sleeping....

Lindula --- Awww, your babies are adorable sleeping in their new car seat. Ours arrived today too, but Max' reaction was quite different -- he barked at it. I am hoping he figures out what it is when I put it in the car.

I've jammed on my breaks and the dogs have been thrown slightly forward but were tethered so they were okay. I like the carseat because, for us, it helped with the car sickness issue. Hot Rod usually will lay down and settle in. Maggie is still very excitable in the seat and stands up and looks around. I guess it is a lot of personal preference. When I used to transport my cats in a crate, I would seat belt the carrier in and I was comfortable with that.

What size careat do you have? I was going to get the small for Louis he weighs about 5 pounds.

I got the large one. I forgot to add that I use harnesses on mine, so no worries about them being choked.

LOL, it went great! there was almost no anxiety or stress, both of them settled down quickly and went to sleep. I love the Pet Gear car seat! I have to bring it to the house every time though - cause they love taking naps in it.
