| Homemade Dog Blanket I finally finished the quilt I have been working on for months. My sewing machine decided to be difficult and not work. Anyway, I call it the "Japanese Coy Fish Ravioli Dog Quilt". Each square is individually stuffed with all natural organic cotton (still hate dried plant leaves and such in it). I was starting to get into quilt making and found an old quilt pattern called the Biscuit Quilt. I revised it a bit and came up with this. I felt like I was stuffing Ravioli when making each individual square so I stuck with that for the name. I'm still working on a really girly one and will plan on making more if I feel the desire is there to purchase. Anywho, what do you think? Would you buy something like this? What would be a price you would pay for it? I can do special orders as well. Let me know what you think.... Kaba wanted to pose with it for the last picture...

Donating YT 30K Club Member | That is really pretty. I don't know what a good price is on it. It looks like a lot of labor went into it.

| I would buy something like that! I like items with a theme (like japanese coy), I like the whimsey but also the craftsmanship (the border is really nice). I've purchased custom blankets that are essentially a choice of print flannel for the front, solid back, some baffling inbetween (but not quilted and no border edge) and optional embroidery (like a name) for $40+ Hope that helps! |

| I'm a knitter and have been told when selling a good rule of thumb is to take the cost of materials and double it. Another thing I do is check the catalogs for similar items and see what they're charging. Here in NYC, people will pay just about any price, but you still get those that don't understand the time and skill involved. You may also want to try the Yahoo quilting groups; they'll give you a better idea. Good luck! |

| I like to make quilts too- yours is so awesome! Very nice- I like the puffy ravioli squares. Where did you find that pattern? I think you'd be able to charge $20-30 for that (adjust price for your location. I live in Southern California, so that's how much something like that would sell here but everything is expensive here anyway) depending on how much you spent on the fabric and batting, and how much labor you put into the blanket... especially if they are custom made. Looks great though. Good luck! Last edited by CharBar; 07-24-2008 at 12:42 PM. |

| I could definitely do that. How big are we talking? Throw size or bed size?
