I make bows. I have two pages of boy bows on my website. The link is in my signature. To answer your questions, at nine weeks you should start with getting him used to having his head brushed and messed with. If he's got enough hair, the best thing to do is to start with making a little topknot with a latex grooming band to get him used to the feel of it before adding a bow. I use 1/4" bands. If you get them too big, you'll have to wrap them too many times. The best size bow to start with would be a little 3/8" bow.

Where do you usually get the latex bands? Would Wal-mart have them?

No, Walmart doesn't have bands you can use for topknots. They'll break the hair. Orthodontic bands work well or you can order them. I like: Dog Bows: Custom Bows, Show Leads, Dog Supplies, Show Dog Bows and Pet Accessories the color coordinated canine show off products - wrapping band, latex bands

| Hi, I make bows as well. I agree that I'd get your little one use to wearing a latex band would be a great start. We sell the yorkie style bows with either elastics or a small clip. I'm starting to like using the clips hear lately as you can put them on & take them off quite quickly without damaging the hair & keeping the bow in great shape. I usually keep Lulu's hair in a tiny elastic all of the time & when she needs to look all pretty I can just clip the bow on quickly & take it off quickly when she just needs to go to bed or change it to another color : ) Attached is a picture of Lulu wearing a clip on style bow (also available with elastics) Dog Clothes, Dog Bows, Dog Carriers, Dog Beds - Barking Beauties

Make your own bows? I have a DVd that shows you just how easy it is to make your own bows. If you can sew 3 stiches, then you can make your own bows, really! My DVD also shows you how to make curly bows, grooming ear bows, as well as the stiffened top knot bows that the show dogs wear. My DVD is $30.00 to yorkie talk members (a $10.00 discount off of my website price) Just go to my website listed in my link, and look at the menu bar for Instructional Video's. They are listed right along with my grooming video's. Sue & Cricket
