Here in Florida I have to walk my every day 3-5 times a day, I won't leave them out of my sight, they r but a few feet fr me. And I watch out for cars that slow down. I'm in a gated com, but that doesn't matter, these jerks r every where. And I don't care for people petting them and asking all kind of questions, I'm just afraid who's out there just waiting to take peoples furbabys. And I'm sure they give them away as gift or if they can breed them , until they have no use for them anymore. Miley is pad train , Max just won't go on the pad, I got him when he was 8 month old , so the last owner never train him on pads. I feel if they're pad train, they will b safer. Can't wait for spring to get my fence up, I have always had a fence until we moved here. The higher the better LOl. And they go for a ride , When I can b with them 100 % together. Or else they stay home safe and sound. I pray and hope all these poor people get their furbabies back soon, it's so sad I'm sure they miss their mom and dad's too, there is not thing like home sweet home. bark@ulater!!!!! manina,miley:animal36,max:aimeeyork |
:( I can't even begin to understand how people can be so horrible, how could they be so cruel to take some one elses baby - if anything happened by my Nibbler I'm sure I'd have a nervous breakdown, I'd just never recover from the loss - I am hoping with all my heart that all the taken babies are returned home safe and well soon and that the animals that took them receive the harshest penalty possible. |
Gen saves the day for a chihuahua Hey Gen... Why don't you share with the group how you recently helped someone find her Grandmother's stolen Chihuahua??? Now that was a harrowing and heartwarming story. You are a true angel!!!:littleang Kit |
God bless you for what you do, man. If I can ever help sometime let me know, near Atlanta. I wonder how much a chip scanner costs? Maybe the general public should buy them. Is there any good technology for GPS collars or even maybe implants? Quote:

Microchip Scanner That is a very good question. I take my dogs to my Vet right away when I get them in to make sure they are not stolen... but having my own scanner would be a very valuable tool especially if I see one running the streets as a stray. I know there are several scanners... one just checks AVID chips and other scanners are capable of checking all type of chips. I will have to ask my Vet about this. Thanks for the suggestion. We are located in Florida and Jeeze Louise... it is so COLD down here!!!! I wish I could find one of these smiley emoticons that is shivering...lol |
From what I'm googling, and judging by the confusion over chip frequencies, the people to talk to would be, like, ham radio hackers. I am certain someone smart in china could come up with something that will at least pick up the presence of a chip, and let us have it at an affordable price, without patent ransoming. ====== Hmm, they already have, 1st google hits for those frequencies lead to China - http://www.rfid-in-china.com/products_700_1.html http://www.rfidshop.com/passive-low-...42khz-10-c.asp |
So if some of us bought some of these on ebay, and spent some spare time going to meet dogs advertised for sale in our communities, maybe we could counter this Cruella curse a bit better. |
Wow, that would be a brilliant idea... except if you went to meet a dog that was being sold by someone and a microchip number was detected once you scanned the dog... there would be no way of proving if the dog belonged to the owner without calling the microchip company that was registered with the chip. By then the dog owner might not allow you to buy or adopt his dog for fear he would get caught OR if he did proplery own the dog he would probably be rather insulted. Best way to do this however would be to scan the dog when he is not looking and then write down the long number or memorize it. Yeah right! Those numbers are very long... I really don't see an easy way to check to see if the dog is stolen without a confrontation and some of these people who are trying to fence stolen dogs are scary! Hmmmm... back to the drawing board. The whole idea is a good one in theory. I do however think it would be great to have a scanner in the car for those times when I find strays running along the roadway. |
Okay after a bit more reading (the wiki was good) here is a good roundup Pet microchip companies square off in a scientific "scan-off" - Wellsphere and here is at least one price reference on the recommended universal reader. HomeAgain Universal Worldscan Microchip Reader - Home Again - PetSupplies4Less.com At $350, it's not on my current shopping list, even a $65 daily rental ( Pet Travel Store: HomeAgain Pet Microchip Scanner Rental ) can go to h###. |
I do so hope and pray that your little one will be found and returned. I have to say I am in agrement about people stealing these beautiful little pets. My niece had her yorkie stolen from her patio. I am very suspicious of some "rescues" as wonderful as most people dedicated to saving little pups, there is to often one that is not what they claim to be. When we rescued Ozzy this guy was at a pet store with loads of cages and the dogs were not just mixed dogs as you might think. There were for the most part very purebreds and all little or toy. There was a beautiful papillon, maltese, cocker... I called the vet that did the neutering for this rescue but got nowhere. I then talked to the humane society and they knew exactly who I was talking about. It might be a longshot but I would try browsing the petfinder site for dogs in your area. I do hope it will be better and you will have your little one home soon. God Bless. |
Wow... you sure have found out a lot of information. I was going to ask my Vet tomorrow if she could possibly buy one for us at a discounted rate. I'll let you know. Boy, they sure are expensive. We would rather spend that kind of money on spay and neutures. lol |

i have had a pet of mine stolen right out of my front yard.... and i have a fenced in yard. so i decided to buy smaller dogs and keep them inside with me. i would be devastated if someone stole my two furbabies. it is sad people think animals dont have feelings.... they love us as much as we love them and i know it is just as hard on them being taken away from their family. |
Well, I'm of course a very new mom, but have already poured everything inside me into the 'new baby', and only suffered just over 24 hours of the agony of the possibility of him having been stolen by someone who might not be loving him, and it is unspeakable emotional agony for the human on the end of the bond. I was taken aback by suggestions from police and shelter people that this happens. I was even warned that, "especially with yorkies", even if the shelter tells you they don't have him, GO THERE AND ASK TO SEE THE DOGS IN THE BACK. This was repeated to me twice, with emphasis, from an officer who happened to be a yorkie person. I do not know what dogs this happens with, or where people commonly go first for online research into dog types, but maybe someone who understands what prospective new puppy parents should check for when meeting with a yorkie seller, could edit the Wikipedia for yorkshire terriers at least to start with, and post some facts about the theft problem there to help generate more public awareness? |
Stealing yorkies DEAR LADIES, I HATE TO BE A BARRIER OF BAD NEWS OR WORSE NEWS, BUT SO MANY TIMES PEOPLE TAKE THESE PRECIOUS BABIES FOR CULT REASONS. THAT HAS BEEN A PROBLEM HERE IN ALBANY BEFORE. THIS IS REALLY A HORRIBLE THING!! NO MANY ARE STOLEN FOR PET PURPOSES. THEY ARE STOLEN TO BE SOLD OR FOR CULT REASONS. LOVE, WANDA ALBANY, GA.:aimeeyork:animal-pa:animal-pa |
